It's DEFINITELY not properly balanced for 3 player coop, even though it should be.
You can skip the Red Prince by offering it 3 coins that drop from the mini-boss mobs (that look like the Red Prince) you encounter in the area, although you will miss his boss weapons if you do this.
If you wanna beat him I recommend learning how to backstep dodge (press dodge button without a direction, you still get iframes) it makes the ring of flames part of the fight much easier.
It's a really bad boss design, a pinnacle of just exaggerating everything and hoping it sticks :/
It's definitely an "up there" boss in terms of difficulty and it doesn't offer much in the way of forgiveness.
Took me about 6 attempts solo as Gunslinger on Veteran.
He is incredibly punishing if you don't dodge well.
Comparing this fight to Malenia is absurd. This fight is nowhere near as challenging. Stay on different levels and when the prince uses fire, stand in the center. Dodge well. There are rings and amulets that'll help (if you've found them). This typed, this is one of the more challenging fights, at least at first. You can also avoid the fight, skip it until later or lower the difficulty. All the best.
Just. go into the eye of the storm. also, survive his onslaught long enough and the firestorm clears.
