Title.

As for me :

The Good :
  • Still the remnant we know : Same combat, same movement, same brutality, but with more stuff.
  • Each biome feels bigger (more dungeons per biome, but it might just be me).
  • Archetypes are nice. There'll be a lot of replayability.
  • Being able to refund trait points is great.
  • The joy of exploring and finding stuff is still there. Nothing more exciting than seeing that purple glow in the distance and wondering what kind of accessory you'll get. And just like before, they're all really good and usable!

The bad :
  • Heavy lag when opening and closing menu/minimap (seriously, please do something about this)
  • The "horde" mechanic where mobs, including elites, pop from time to time is kinda irritating, especially in higher difficulties. For people who want to explore every nook and cranny, and because there are many secrets that require you to do so, being interrupted every two minutes with a slew of enemies is really annoying after a while. I would tone down the pop rate down a little bit imo.
  • The new puzzles feel a lot more cryptic than in the first iteration. I'm in Yaesha, and I'm racking my brain really hard with some puzzles, even after going through the clues time and time again.
  • Not playing in hardcore yet, but this feels a lot less hardcore-friendly than in the first remnant. Some environment mechanics can insta-kill you, like jumping on platforms where falling = death, or where walls can crush & kill you, etc. Together with the horde mechanic, this'll probably make the run more hardchore than hardcore.
  • The lack of an Encyclopedia/Codex is evident, especially with the game relying on text and images to convey clues about puzzles. I hope this gets added in the future.

By "popped" do you mean the enemies just spawning out of the ground when they CLEARLY weren't there before? Because I am seeing that in-game and not liking it at all (I'm still early going solo and just not having much fun and that is one of the issues).

Yep, that. You hear a sound then enemies start popping out of nowhere. AFAIK there was no such mechanic in Remnant 1.

I second this one ( It's really frustrating ).
Hope they are going to fix it at some point.

As for me :

The Good :
  • No stamina consumption during exploration ( while not in combat )
  • Several items to get health regen ( really appreciated )
  • Climbing/slide down the ladder, Leap.

The bad :
  • Heavy lag when opening and closing menu/minimap (seriously, please do something about this)
  • The handler pet is dumb af ( stays behind, doesn't stick on the marked enemy, disappear on the ground ) and, though I might be wrong, the revive ability triggers once you get downed, and not when the pet comes close to you ( this means that if you go down and the pet gets staggered during the way, they lose the revive and you die )
  • Sometimes the leap occurs when you want to drop down dodging, eventually ending up killing yourself or similar.

Sitting here watching and playing on my roommates PC together and the performance kinda just sucks across the board.

Bad performance and horrible trait system compare to the first one. Gameplay is fun atleast.

Yeah the horde mechanic is a complete put off for me. I need an option to disable it even if it's a mod; but I find no joy in having respawning enemies. Leave that for tower defense and mobas.

So far it's everything I loved about the first game just upscaled massively.

It runs like ass but with a bit of fiddling I got it stable.

The random Multi spawn hordes are hit or miss... It's fun until you get 5 horde waves back to back.......

I had back to back elite horde spawns after mostly clearing a dungeon, low on resources, and I eventually died when one of them teleported to the room I had managed to fall-back to. It's uh, real fun to see the entire dungeon respawn for a totally balanced and fair encounter.

5 hours in it's been a bad first impression due to the bad performance and at least the boss fights and areas i had so far weren't all that enjoyable and seem to still have same issues first game suffered such as using adds too much in boss fights, or i got unlucky and got the bad ones so far.

Hopeful it'll get better soon.

Oh yeah, I can't count the times I ran out of all my ammo and had to play wack a mole with random teleporting bow guys. I'm only on veteran... I don't even want to think of how bad the harder modes are yet lol. Also still not a fan of the forced headshot/weakpoint meta game. So most of my issues you can sum up to a "Skill issue"

The game is a slog for single player only folks, like the first but somehow worse, because the pieces are there for a fun experience, but the death chasms, jump puzzles, and constantly respawning enemies made the only course of action I had was refunding it. A shame, I really hoped for a miracle but they doubled down.

It's good for what it is, a coop Soulslike shooter. Not a good single player game at all. The writing is absolutely awful. Nice visuals but performance issues abound.
