Root rot?
Simple question- how do you unlock the doctor selling the cure for Root Rot? I'm currently in an area (Yaesha) where several mobs inflict it but I've not found the consumable to cure it (Oilskin Balm, I think) and the doc doesn't sell it. I've checked all the other vendors just in case, no luck.

I've got a feeling in the first game consumables only unlocked for sale once you'd found one of them, but that's not exactly helping right now.

The doctor should already sell the cure, no? She's the med in town that took care of cass.

I have the right doctor, she has cures for Overload, Burn, Poison and a few others, but not Rot. I even exhausted her dialogue and had her tell me about inventing a cure for it, but still no sign of it for sale.

This is getting to be a serious issue for me now, Yaesha is absolutely lousy with rot and I can't cure it. Any help would be appreciated!

Idk the doc in town had the cure already for me, but also I barely even used a cure there. Are you avoiding the root traps? You make it sound dramatic but I cleared that area and used the rot cure maybe 1-2 times only.

I've been mostly getting it from the big cannon elites who fire three shots that explode into Root clouds, and now I've run into... something that does delayed explosions that don't seem to need LOS. Might be due to the procedural thing.

What's really worrying me is that if my hub is somehow borked, even re-rolling the campaign might not fix it.

Ok, now I'm really confused. I tried rolling a new character and skipping the tutorial- still no Oilskin Balm at Norah's shop. I'm at a complete loss as to what's going on.

Might be that you have to clear something first in that area. As for that elite that shoots those rot bombs. He fires 2-3 shots then takes a few seconds for him to reload. You can avoid line of sight / hide behind something to bait the shots and then attack when he reloads.

You can also send the dog to pull aggro if you play handler xD

I've killed the first boss there, which didn't change anything. It seems pretty bizarre to have to complete the area where you need a particular curative before you're allowed to buy it.

In any case I've reported it as a bug, so we'll see if it gets patched or if someone patiently explains to me how I'm being an idiot.

There is an npc in yaesha that sells a ring that makes you immune to root rot. He was a pan covered in corruption and I met him literally right after getting there. Maybe try getting there and see what happens. It was 500 scrap.

He is indeed at the start just after entering, but first time you encounter him it would surprise me that you already have enough scrap (500) to buy that ring. Hopefully he keeps the same stock for next visits.

You need to find the curative out in the world and bring it to the NPC in order for her to sell it.

That is terrible, I haven't seen it all day and some of the bosses love to spam root rot AoEs lol

Alternatively you can try using medic and his first skill should boost rot recovery

Hmm, I met him but I don't remember him selling anything, that's certainly worth another look. If I don't have enough scrap now I damn well will have ASAP, one way or another!

Yes, he was selling it, praise the Sun! Still a very bizarre design decision to have basic curatives be so hard to get, but at least now it's not a showstopper.
