What difficulty is suggested to start on?
Wondering if there's a specific difficulty you should start on, preferably.

Veteran imo. Nightmare isn't designed for first playthroughs, but it is up to you.

I've got upwards of 100 hours in the first game. Started Remnant 2 on veteran and I can't even do anything in the first area after the tutorial :D Elite teleporter enemy in Beatific palace kills me in 2 seconds :>

I dont suggest veteran either, the mob spawns are a bit nuts. Ive made it further then the guy above me, and its possible to do, just not enjoyable with how the mob spawn system works. But if you feel like that wont bother you and you dont mind a lot slower, and possibly more frustrating experience, by all means, go for it.

If they didn't have mob spawn, veteran because engagements are the right amount of risk/reward imo. But because they decided to artificially increase difficulty by making mobs spawn infinitely in a game with limited resources, go low difficulty. Same reward anyway, but the mobs might not matter anymore.

Yeah this game is definitely harder than the first, can barely make it through the first few areas on Veteran alone because the mobs keep spawning and they auto spawn mini bosses depending how long you sit in an area it seems

I started on Veteran and I'm on the 3rd and 4th worlds of the campaign, haven't had that much trouble or taken more than a few shots at each boss... however it certainly feels like some bosses are overwhelming without another person potentially. It can feel a little over the top on some of them, with the adds and everything.

Not sure about the infinite respawn mobs though. I've cleared parts of a zone out and gone back (without resting of course) and they stay cleared out. Mini bosses are random, but they + hordes don't just spawn out of thin air in my experience, because I was loathing backtracking and it hasn't happened to me once.

Still only played Challenger, so I don't know if it's much different for other archetypes (Challenger can self-rez once every ten minutes/rest).

If you are familiar with the first game,, I suggest you to go with veteran.

veteran for a challenge. nightmare on a fresh save is for absolute masochists.

I started on survivor but found it a bit easy so bumped it up to veteran. have to restart campaign though

can confirm for nightmare, im on a boss and they are simply unkillable at the moment

but holy is it a thrill running/fighting from some of those bigger enemies in dungeons

Me and my son completed the first game many times and decided to play this game on veteran.

Now I would say it depends on what random place your game will start after the tutorial but a couple are out right brutal and given your low gear and weapons it just isn't going to be much fun.

We changed to survivor....

I would start with survivor until you level up a little and upgrade your gear then you can go up to a more difficult level.

do survivor if u r new to game and souls-likes. if u played souls-likes or formsoft titles or first game then veteran. nightmare is bit too brutal at start for first run unless u r rly good at souls and want a very punishing experience most of time

Survivor is pretty rough on it's own. But feels better suited to ease into the game. And then once your confident and comfortable then possibly go up to Vet. But wouldn't go higher unless you like suffering.
