The Dark Conduit 3 - purple item behind a locked door with a robot inside.

Has anyone seen this purple item hiding behind a locked door? It's one of the locked doors with the robot behind it, in the hallways leading up to the boss fight the Dark Conduit 3.

I cannot figure out how to get the door open or find another way into the room to get the purple item.

What holes? What barrels? And in what room? I’ve been running around here for over 45 minutes reading these comments and trying to figure out what everyone is talking about. I don’t see anything that anyone has said.

I'm pretty sure you have to kite the miniboss. There are doors in the boss room very similar to the ones in the hallway with the item, and they open during the fight. I already killed it so I can't check :(

They are thinking of a different area, I think it may be the kiting the miniboss thing because I've spent 45 minutes breaking everything in the entire place. If its the miniboss that is a garbage design tbh.

If the purple ring is behind a door with a shutdown robot inside of it, and you've killed the boss, you're permanently out of luck (like me). You apparently had to get the boss to be less than half HP then actively run from the boss fight instead of winning, and drag it out of it's own arena and into the hallway for those doors to open.

Personally, I thought it would be like a mini-horror sequence where the boss was weaker because after you killed it, a security protocol would turn on and those doors would open as you tried to escape or something, but I guessed wrong, so now I am permanently locked out of obtaining that loot.

Nice dev choice there.

Atleast we can still go back in adventure mode to try it again, hope whatever the ring does is worth it.

I have the answer. There are 2 purple items, and the first one (no. 1) can be obtained from the TOP of that room with the purple item (no. 2) inside. No. 2 is the purple item you see first. Getting purple no. 1 was explained well by Kailocke:

On the right should be a buncha barrels. Shoot them and it will show you drop down ventilation duct. crawl through and find a ladder going up the room. Once on top of the room. Check the walls for an opening that will allow you to aim at an electric barrel inside the locked room. Shoot the barrel through the wall opening.

Now it may be unclear for some so for no. 2, which is the one you see through the glass initially: once you're on the top floor, you will see some "gaps" or "holes" in the pipes to the inside of the room. One of the "gaps" or "holes" has an electric explosive barrel you can shoot. Shoot it, and it should open the locked door.

To clarify for "around to the right", on the Putrid Domain you will come across a red locked door, with large wrap around glass windows. Follow the corridor to the right to find the pile of barrels.

For me the boss has the ability where he teleports you back to him, so kiting him would have been a nightmare. Stupid secret.

So that's how it's done. Shooting a barrel inside the room. I didn't think of that.

Yeah, realized that there is another locked door with a very similar layout but different solution. It's a bit confusing since the circumstances are similar for both instances (locked door with glass you can peep in inside). There could be other ones.

Yeah, just to confirm here after having seen both secrets in different runs:
- The "kite the miniboss" secret has a robot inside a tiny closet (in a corridor with multiple robot closets), the item is so close you can tell it's a ring by its model
- The "shoot a barrel through a hole" secret has a single locked door, and the room behind it is pretty big

Also got permanently locked out of getting that item, the boss had the "spawn minions" modifier so I didn't notice it opened the doors to get support from the regular robots until finding this topic... ah well, maybe next run
