I am playing offline. I just lost my hardcore character because I had to take an important call and the game did not pause.

In the first game I backed up my save files in case of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ deaths. This one has at least one dungeon with traps that one shot you AND a platforming section that makes Dark Souls look like Super Mario in comparison (would be super fun to loose a HC char in a jumping puzzle with a mind of its own)

Ignoring the witty repartee, +1 for this. When you're playing offline there's absolutely no valid reason why the game shouldn't allow you to pause.

I did, seems hit or miss. Sometimes I restore the files as they were and it works, sometimes I still have to start over.

I said to my friend, if there is a section where I have to be particularly careful not to fall of the map and die instantly, and that is the gimmick, I am going to be pissed. So that really sucks.
