game crashes on launch

game crashes on launch over and over again actually unplayable
i have a 4090, i9 13900ks, 64 gig ddr5
i have verified, uninstalled, and updated drivers.
if i go to the .exe and run in win7 mode and as admin it doesnt crash but i cant play online with friends after the prologue because i dont think the game is connecting to servers like that or something........ ♥♥♥♥♥ weird af

this is the unreal error message

I get the same crash on my 1080ti lmao. Super frustrating.

I am lead to believe it is a driver issue - so perhaps loading an older driver to the GPU will help to resolve the issue. Going to try that later today

Game would crash for me either in the main menu or during the first cutscene.

Turning off MSI afterburner solved the issue for me if any of you happen to be running it.

Yeah it doesn't run smooth on a 4090... there is 100% issues with the optimization pass they did. The work around prevents the crash but doesn't help the hitching which to me looks like shader compilations

In the end I found out it was my 13900-K. Bios update did the trick so far

Just trying to play the game for the first time. First cut scene crashes on me every time around when the train falls.

I know this old but just in case: Sharing the solution that worked for me! I was getting frequent unreal engine error crashes when launching the game or transition areas before this.

In "Windows Explorer" (Windows key + E)
Navigate to your Remnant2 folder. Assuming you are on Steam it will be:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Remnant2
or
Something\Steam\steamapps\common\Remnant2

Once you find that:

- Right Click the "Remnant2" file
- Click "Properties"
- Click the "Compatibility" Tab
- Under "Compatibility Mode" click the drop down
- Choose "Windows 8"
- Click OK
