only steam and epic, not consoles
Looked neat though, hope they enjoy it on their PS5's.
cross platform is a challenge, plus it incurs extra fees that not every dev/publisher wants to deal with
pc has access to the modding community, so that presents a unique challenge when doing cross platform
If they do decide to add it in, likely they will keep the pc and console crowd separate; since that would be the easiest solution
xbox and playstation people can play together, while steam and epic people can play together; and just don't bother attempting to do cross plat play between the console and pc versions in any capacity
that may not be what people want to hear, but honestly they don't have many other options if they want to go that route, other than do what MCC did for PC, and make it so there is a dedicated modded multiplayer section [this again has its own challenges, and I'm not sure if it could be replicated for Remnant 2]
- There's no difference between a PC and a PS5 if you are a software engineer. Xbox is just a PC. The game does not use a custom game engine to care about it. The game has awful code quality though.
- The Sony fee is not an obstacle since greedy developers want the AAA price.
The only possible issue is to have the up-to-date game on PS5. Please, do not protect developers.
Its mainly xbox+PS/sony or xbox+PC
The most noteworthy i can think off is destiny, newer COD titles, bf2042,warframe, diablo 4
Sure there are a few others but they are not as popular titles as the others.
Otherwise there are plenty of cross-platform games but its like 80% xbox+pc, 10% PS+PC and rest is well, xbox+PS/all platforms.
With that said, i dont even like cross-platform games as they tend to have issues with latency/lag.
As i played CoD cold war in the past and had cross-platform on for a while, i turned it off after a while, it was a unplayable mess, if a xbox/PS user was host, you could not play with them as a PC user as you had massive latency problems, no idea how it was if the opposite happened, if console users had the same problem if a PC user was host but i can imagine it was the same.
Same with destiny 2, i experience some slight latency when playing with other console players, same for MW1 remaster..
Until they can fix latency issues between consoles and PC, dont add cross-play in!
And if they add it, make it optional, just like cold war did, you could choose to play with PC only or cross-platform, it was not forced.
As a sidenote, the worst cross-play is PC+phones! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thats some next level ♥♥♥♥.
A phone overheats very fast and when it overheats you start to lag, and if you bring that crap over to cross-play, oh boy!
