I mean the first one was fun imho so I'd say if you're willing to spend the money it'd be a fun little time, but at this point it's not really needed. These games aren't heavy on story elements, it's more about replaying the levels and discovering stuff so no.

Not particularly. You don't miss much lore. The earth had a Gellar Field that some Swedish ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ discovered and then broke, letting evil plant aliens invade and destroy civilization. There's an old guy who is missing, you invade various alien planets looking for him, and eventually the player kills said Swedish ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

The ambiance and the world design is worth so much more than the story and that's well in evidence here so I wouldn't say you need the play the first game.

The first one is called Chronos before the ashes, and has no guns, souls like too. You get some of the story there, about ford and the dreamers. I really hope they put some of the characters from Remnant 1 in the second, the old people must be dead, but ford could still be alive, after all we know the queen of yesha is in.

Do you play as the same main protagonist from the first game? Is the story a direct continuation from the first game or just the shared world/universe?

These two questions might be slightly different than the thread topic but I figured it would be safe to ask here instead of making a whole new thread.

Remnant 2 is only 10 years after the first game (On earth). The Weapon shop guy and the Lady who upgrades/sells mods are back as well, same with the Mute armour vanity shop dude is back too.

There is no "main protagonist" technically. Your character is just a create a character running through worlds where there's bad **** going down and you are tasked at stopping it. Technically there's more to the story, but that's the main aspect to it. I'm a big story guy, but this series isn't really about the story honestly.

Different person, because any one you play as is a custom character.
Takes place 10 years after Remnant, so technically 30-50 years after Chronos.
Its still a direct sequel since its following up from the ramifications of what happened after the real ending in the second expansions.

I highly doubt it, the second game is already a mile improvement over the first in certain ways, sticking to 2 is just fine
