So video games designers have decided to make them useless at medium/long range and OP at short range.
This game has a lot of ways to reduce spread though, and apparently that's pretty good.
Sticking them with the IRL tradeoff of how many fewer shells you can carry compared to almost anything else would probably be just as irritating.

Lolwut, I'm doing like 900 weakspot hits with the bulldog. Over and over and over and over again. That gun's an absolute beast. Very situational, but if there's something in front of you that you need dead yesterday, bulldog will do it for ya.
Coach gun looks sweet as well but I haven't used it. Hoping I can find a pump action down the line.
But it's no longer a shotgun, it's a slug gun now.
not sure I use that word properly, so what I mean is it fires ONE huge pellet.
It's very good, but it's not a shotgun.
Slug is still a shotgun. Shotguns are for power, which the coach gun provides, it also has a very wide spread despite it being a slug, which you then have to compensate for, unlike using things like the widow maker to snipe things. It's a close range HIGH impact slug launcher (Shotgun.) that can constantly stagger enemies and builds mod power really quickly 2-3 shots= elemental shot.
The coach gun is more accurate than in the first game though, and I like the 1 pellet per shot \o/
But not the impact, which is where shotguns shine. Weakspot is fine, reeling+weakspot is better.
