Why are the Shotguns always the one that needs a Buff
Just like every other game when it comes to shotguns either they are great or just get not worth the time using them. I could not believe the shotguns in this game are rated tier-D (These builds are below average and have many flaws).

Will shotguns ever get the love in this game

Because if shotguns in video games were as powerful as they are in real life, they would outshine a LOT of weapons.

So video games designers have decided to make them useless at medium/long range and OP at short range.

This game has a lot of ways to reduce spread though, and apparently that's pretty good.

Sticking them with the IRL tradeoff of how many fewer shells you can carry compared to almost anything else would probably be just as irritating.

They had good shotguns in the first game, so as part of the 'make this game worse in every single way' plan, they ruined them. It's ArtIstic Vision and the game devs sticking to their plan. It also probably helps build diversity to make even less things you'd ever try to use.

Lolwut, I'm doing like 900 weakspot hits with the bulldog. Over and over and over and over again. That gun's an absolute beast. Very situational, but if there's something in front of you that you need dead yesterday, bulldog will do it for ya.

Coach gun looks sweet as well but I haven't used it. Hoping I can find a pump action down the line.

As a shotgun main, I can confirm the OP-ness of shotguns. With the point focus ring, it would tighten the spread enough to be ok at medium range. If you add in handling trait, it becomes almost a rifle.

Coach gun was my number 1 weapon in remnant 1
But it's no longer a shotgun, it's a slug gun now.
not sure I use that word properly, so what I mean is it fires ONE huge pellet.
It's very good, but it's not a shotgun.

Slug is still a shotgun. Shotguns are for power, which the coach gun provides, it also has a very wide spread despite it being a slug, which you then have to compensate for, unlike using things like the widow maker to snipe things. It's a close range HIGH impact slug launcher (Shotgun.) that can constantly stagger enemies and builds mod power really quickly 2-3 shots= elemental shot.

i wanted a pump action but the bulldog has fixed spread and hits very hard if you can aim properly, shoot a wall with it and you'll see it draws a T shaped pattern, easy to hit weak spot consistently.

I wasn't sure about the word but yeah, it's technically a shotgun but when people hear "shotgun" they usually expect multiple pellets with spread.

The coach gun is more accurate than in the first game though, and I like the 1 pellet per shot \o/

Ford's gun is technically a pump action. It just has a lever to do the pumping action.

shotguns are alright, just expensive to make good. I am using fords shotgun in a bleed build right now, doing an apoc run, but to get all the pellets to land on a weakspot, I put 10 points into weapon handling, and am also using the point focus ring, and I am using twisting wounds to squeeze just a little bit more range damage out of it (whole setup is a bleed build as well, just to accommodate it) I am getting an amount of damage that is acceptable I guess, lets say 4000 on a weakspot crit, but I could get the same (if not more, since shotguns only have +100% weakspot damage) damage without the need for the ring and skills if I just used a bow and arrow instead.

But not the impact, which is where shotguns shine. Weakspot is fine, reeling+weakspot is better.

if you think shotguns are underpowered in remnant 1 or 2 then you play them wrong trust
