I came to a realization with this one...
I don't like spending my time rolling during half the fight. I think Elden Ring walked me to the edge on that, and Remnant 2 pushed me over. I will admit I play it solo, which is not an ideal way to play this game. But man, I like shooting more than rolling. Oh well, it's a step up from the first in design and assets, I'll give it that. I'm not going to thumbs down the game, it is what it is, but man I wish I discovered this prior to two hours.

If you don't plan to hit apocalypse diff, you can easily build up a tanky build that doesn't require lots of ( if any ) dodges. Ofc your first playthrough might not end up being so permissive ( unless you get some specific weapons/archetypes from other players ).

If you have the right ring + amulet you dont roll, you just misty step with a slightly higher iframe o.o

Try backdash (roll with no directional input)
Less i-frame but less endlag
Harder to pull off but less downtime

All good advice, thank you. I just want to shoot things more I think. I can accept I've sort of changed my opinion on Souls-like games. Maybe I'll come back to it later with renewed interest.

Handler's pet is really good at intercepting melee mobs so you can focus more on the pew-pew.

In the game, it's called neutral dodge.
Really good to learn how to use it, because some enemies in Remnant 2 have their sequences & timing adjusted to counter rolling spam. Best example is Abomination elite enemy & boss version of it, a pile of meat with some parts covered with metal plates hiding bombs in it.

I sidestep more than roll for sure. This is something i learned from 1. It surprised me at just how many attacks you can step out of the way from.

Bit late, but... If you use the leto mk 2 armor, and a bunch of defensive rings you can tank through a ton. Combine that with either summoner or handler with the blood bond perk maxed, you'll take so little damage that you won't need to dodge as much. You won't be able to anyway with how heavy the armor is... Unless you use a certain amulet.

Or the ring that gives you the fastest roll at max weight too, way less demanding than the misty step if that’s what you meant

I would agree with you but I just looted an amulet saying "neutral backdash" lol
While other items say "neutral dodge"
It's not the first time I see a game that isn't consistant with wordings...

You can eventually unlock combinations that will turn your 3 timed dodges against an enemy combo attack, into 1 timed dodge and backpedaling / sidestepping (through movement speed boosts, evasion distance, etc). Lots of projectiles stop requiring dodge altogether and can be outpaced.
It may take a while to reach that point. Just FYI, maybe something else to work towards.

There are traits, skills, etc that increase your movement while shootings, and movement in general, would be worth looking into

I've never used the misty step so I have no idea how it works, or what gives it to you. I was meaning the amulet that reduces your weight, which would allow you to use the leto mk 2 armor and also have medium weight.

That works but remember there is a ring that allows the fastest rolls no matter the armor weight . It’s a better trade off than an amulet

Problem is, the ring doesn`t counter the stamina use of high weight armor... so you still have to deal with 75% stamina use per roll
