Steam Deck performance AFTER patch
Hi,
Deck performance was pretty rough apparently but i wonder how it fares after the patch? Don't want to download and be disappointed so i wonder if anyone here tried it already and could share his thoughts? (ony answer if you played the patched version)

There's a mod on Nexus that disables SSGI, would probably help a ton with something like Steam Deck. Any one you co-op with would need the same files though afaik.
It being enabled by default without an option for traditional AO is surprising, considering how heavy of a process it is.

Edit: Apparently the required asset loader doesn't work on Steam Deck. Sorry, y'all.

Just looked it up, sounds promising, might just try and download the game as there's not rly much feedback coming in here on how it runs in its current state.

I tried it after the patch, it feels exactly the same, ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

i found it to be much better after the patch using Proton Experimental and the Intel in game upscaling. it runs 30-40 in most areas and fights. the hub area is the most taxing and will drop into the 20's occasionally when going around talking to people or going into a menu. the low settings and resolution do make seeing enemies against the background harder though. I think i would have a hard time playing this solely on the Deck. Especially at higher difficulties. But on the easiest setting it might not be too bad.

You need something else called Asset Mod, and specifically on the page of it, it says "does not work on SteamDeck yet."

Yes but below it says "tested and working". Maybe worth a shot. Tried streaming it, but it's too laggy. So i guess i won't get around installing 70GB again.

Missed that on the dependency page, edited my post to reflect the information. Sorry for wasting your time, as it sounds like you did indeed try it out,

So i did try it, game wouldn't launch so the mod defo doesn't work on it(yet?). Performance after patch is also still rough. 30 is kind of doable but the toll on image quality is too high to make it enjoyable. Sticking to PC for now, gonna chevk back in on nexus in case the mod will work at some time.

I had found a configuration that worked for me before the patch, and after the patch, things feel even better. There's still room for further improvement, but it's a move in the right direction. I'm playing N'Erud at a stable 30FPS. My settings are here:
