Question about resistances.
I wore very heavy armour for most of my first run. I found an alternate armour set with slightly less armour, slightly more weight, but quite a bit more in the way of resistances. This made me wonder - is it worth losing ~5 armour in return for some resistance? I can't answer that question, because I don't know how resistance works. Not resistance from armour pieces, anyway.

My initial thought was that it's just a straight-up percentage reduction - 10 Corrosive resistance just means 10% resistance. However, that's not how armour works - it's resistance = armour/(armour + 75) or some such, if I recall from the previous game. So I don't know if elemental resistance does the same thing. I'm also not sure what it actually applies to. Obviously, it applies to each specific element, but what about non-elemental attacks? Just spear jabs or monster bites?

What about exotic elements, like Corruption? Realistically speaking, how much good would a few extra points of resistance really do?

Generally armor is for damage reduction.
Resistances are kinda a twofold:
Some resistances, for statuses that buildup, reduce the buildup amount. Those statuses typically do not do damage, those are mostly blights.

Elemental resistances apply to burning, corrosion, overloaded. They reduce the dmage you take from those.

Personally, never really cared about resistances because I never really got into situations where it matters. sure got hit with burn etc and so on, but they are easy to get rid off or just take the damage since not many things apply them.
Armor is universal and will protect you from damage in general.

Yeah, that's generally where I am, as well. The thing is, I'm trying to see if there's a reason to use Leto's MK1 armour over the MK2. The MK1 is ~5 armour less for a bit more resistance and a bit more weight. Plus it looks much better. Not sure if it's worth it, though... since I've no idea how elemental resistances affect my EHP.

Then again, what you said makes sense - relatively few things actually hit with elemental damage.
