So thats the only way ? If the extraction hub isnt there then you have to try and get it in adventure mode, is that so ?
The extraction hub consists of 3 giant pistons and you have to crawl under one of them, to get 2 really good acessories and kill a zombie for the helm.
It's not a common event, and getting that helm will make you look like a badS
You can reroll campaign as well. To get some of the last items in the game you have to reroll the game campaign more than once.

Each of the 3 worlds has 2 main variants so you get around half of each. The ward, the lab, and root earth are fixed and they still comprise a lot of content.
100% completion will take something in hundreds of hours.
Navigators helm is a proper helmet. Not a quest item. Only quest items are lost. Gear is kept. So you can grab the navigators helm in one run then reroll campaign or do adventure more for the crashed ship.
