Kiting him around heavy objects is essential to be able to heal
Yup, just managed to beat him after god knows how many deaths but god he's horribly designed. Including the one two stab combo that's just slow enough that if you get hit by the first and immediately dodge you guaranteed get hit by the second one
Not sure though but that bit seemed real suspect, other than that i only really had trouble with the fire pillars as they can randomly stack close together and hit you with multiple in the same instant. Getting closer to him seemed to help, so maybe they are dispersed around him but they bunch up near collision areas/area boundaries.
The boss design and his attacks are not the issue, it is you are not even near the asset that is used to signify you will take damage and you get 1 tapped. Like the one that shoots roots up from the ground. It is entirely random if the hit box is where it should be visually.
