Manticore event
What exactly triggers the event? I got it in the sewers, but have yet to get it on the surface. Is there a specific map I need to roll, or is it just luck?
I feel like following one when it goes to heal should trigger it, but I can't find one to do it now.

Its triggered by walking near the sewer drain that was marked by the RNG gods when your map was rolled. I'm pretty sure its always present. Remember that often multiple Dram not burning overworlds can spawn but the event will only spawn once per realm.

Pretty sure its always there but you have to walk up to every of those special crates to see which one triggers it

Are you talking about the guy that drags you into the sewer grate to give you alchemist class?

I found it once on two different characters, once was on surface and other was in a different spot. I think you might have to check several spots.

If you are struggling to find it, I'd just find other goals you want in a lothom adventure mode run, and check all the grates you see on the way to those goals. Going to only grates on a completed world could get tedious and boring.

Just find any big drain in any location of Losomn without fire. If you're in co-op, other players must die. The event is random, you can trigger the event several times. I don't know if you can trigger the event if you kill the boss jumps around sometimes.

If you trigger the event in the Great Sewers, you will get academic's set and a ring.

Btw, I think the easiest way to trigger the event is to find a boss, reduce its hp to 50% and rush to the same drain. The boss will grab your leg instantly.

Doesn't really help; I've heard some people say that it is hard-coded, and if you don't get it the first time around none of those drains will ever give it, but also heard of people succeeding after hours of resetting the same map.
I really wish they gave a consistent way to tell if the event would trigger, or a way to force it to trigger - similar to how annoying it can be to get a blood moon, though at least

It can trigger at any drain. So far me and my friend re-rolled lossom quite a few times and every single time it dragged one of us down, the only difference was the drain.

If you're looking to unlock the Alchemist, from my experience, that would be in Morrow Parish or Ironborough, depending on the world's story. (Former for the Nightweaver, latter for the Twin Usurpers)

I think every time either of those maps is loaded, a random drain is selected to be the event trigger. I say this because while playing with a friend, I got grabbed at one drain, but my friend didn't manage to get KO'd so we didn't get taken to the manticore's lair. When we came back to the area, my friend got grabbed at a different grate.

You can tell if this event is present because the area you fight it in will be on your map, in an area which seems like it might be accessible but isn't (through a short sewer tunnel or up a crumbled wall, etc). So if you see a small area on your map that you can get to just the outside of, but cannot reach, then go fishing for manticores at every sewer grate (with your flashlight off) until you find it.

It's just the way the game is designed.
Let me explain in a very simple way:
You have an outside world grab wich is usually near grates with iron.
You have an inside grab wich can happen in the sewer themselves, usually the grates near water.
After you get grabed you can get an event to get the archetype or the armorm you spawn in a sewer of the map.
Because of the silly amount of randomisation i think only a few grates are marked for grabing and sometimes it will be hard to find but also check the grates in the sewers themselves.
I got grabed in a sewer here, i got grabed outside as well. So my second dungeon after being grabed was the alchemist set. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FZEqgFssoU

That being said, you can be very unlucky and the archetype grabs be registered in another map or maybe in the sewers wich might explain wich it's hard to get for some people.
In any case, let it happen naturally while exploring the dran suburbs but also sewers.
Probably one out of 10 grates has a chance to grab.
But this also means it's total rng
i got grabed in ironborough after checking about 10 grates but also accidentally dodging one:) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aV-etrR1DE

It's not once per reset btw, I've been in a session where it happened twice.

I thought it was 1 kill per reset. Like you could die and get pulled in again but once you kill it, that's it. idk for sure but I never was able to get a 2nd encounter after killing it.

Did you ever do this? I've tried it and it doesn't work.

Did you just get lucky the one he ran back into was also the one that triggered the event?
