Class has SOME synergy with tanking playstyle, but not enough of it. You don't get passive poise or enough enemy damage debuffing to matter. So you still rely on your own DR. Tankiness really only comes into play when you're geared to be tanky. Meaning anyone else with bulwark and 80% DR is as much of a "tank" as you are.
Range limitation while not terrible on paper, made me give up on gunning enemies that are farther than 10m away from me. Throwing Krell Axe or Huntress Spear at enemies works better than almost all of the guns I've gotten so far.
Right now I'm playing as hybrid of Challenger and Engineer with Engi being the main archetype. The only part of the Challenger that I actively use is the Juggernaut ability and only because of its stagger reduction.
Also, I tried "tanking" Executioner from Losomn at Nightmare difficulty and got taken out in like 3-4 hits. Meaning I still gotta dodge just like any other archetype, but perhaps I survive getting hit once more than someone who doesn't care about DR? No clue how good tanking actually is, is what I'm saying. I'm talking about tanking because that's the only thing Challenger seemingly has more of compared to other archetypes since they provide damage too. And I wasn't "wowed" by it.
Ah so, that's Challenger + Hunter right?
I was thinking of doing something like that, boosting my shotty range so that I wouldn't have to do much "out of the normal" regarding bosses, but then I could just splat normie mobs in melee.
Yes, but you do not necessarily need Hunter. After you get it to level 10, you can use the trait without the Archetype
With the current change of mechanics of Remnant 2, it is just a trash, getting hit by archer type enemy they kite you away when your shotgun deal much less damage to long range, and lowest priority melee when you and enemy hit each other.
And you can't cancel any action performing, which makes you can't not dodge, when enemies suddenly spawn somewhere else, plus as a comment mention, the dodge require just right timing to roll.
Each fight i just literally used all of my 3 charges of dragon heart to barely survive.
You need to buy the items and got to Wallace to craft the engrams, which you can then equip. The doctor has one, the two guys by the stew and Brabus I think.
Thanks, :( i can't even sell my item to swap a archtype to able to start farming scraps. Thank you anyway.
Get used to not having scraps. I run with Explorer, which give more, and an amulet with 50% more and I'm still barely scrapping by.
Such a great game with lore and exploration, but the game mechanics feels clunky.
Close Combat means Short Range. With the advent of guns many people today believe it to mean Melee Combat but in fact refers to any combat within 15m. The Challenger absolutely reflects that and is completely viable. Not only with the weapons it starts with but with other weapons you get later on.
Many people also believe, thanks to other games, that "tanking" means standing there having the attention of the enemy while getting slapped in the face. They are only partially correct. Tanking does mean yes you are holding the enemy's attention. This is done by various factors the biggest of course is dealing damage. However, another aspect of tanking is by AVOIDING damage or MITIGATING damage, NOT JUST GETTING SLAPPED IN THE FACE.
what that actually means is that the "best" tank is most likely something involving the trait that increases your iframes, your distance covered when you roll, max stamina, stamina reduction, dealing damage on a perfect dodge, etc.
That means learning to time your dodges properly manage your stamina usage, and still be able to pump out the damage to draw attention to yourself. Which is going to be far too difficult for the vast majority of players to do.
Yet for those that are capable of it, you would be surprised how strong they are in team play which is honestly the best reason to play a "tank". Even "healer" builds are going to be weaker in solo play then the strongest "dps" builds because in solo play killing faster, which the "dps" builds do beyond a doubt, matters more because the enemy HP is so much lower (even on Apoc difficulty).
^^ to get you buy it from Reggie in town. Get weight over 80 then doge/flop about 100 times to unlock it.
