Feature request: Reset power level but keep the unlocks
Basically, title.
I've just finished my solo campaign on Veteran and would like to experiment with different equipment, classes and traits. However, it turns out once the Power Level reaches 20, it stays there no matter what you do.

This is a bit underwhelming, as starting a new character at power level 1 means losing access to the entire catalogue I worked hard to acquire. And using my current char to level the previously unlocked equipment is an excercise in futility, as the world stays at difficulty level 21, but the guns are level 1.

My takeaway from this is that 80% of the unlocked arsenal gets sidelined for all eternity. Either you immedeiately switch to a newly unlocked weapon (taking a hit to your efficiency) and start upgrading it, or you stick with your most upgraded weapon and never get to use the new unlocks in a balanced combat difficulty scenario.

I would appreciate the ability to roll back all my weapons to +1 state, lose my invested trait points, but keep the unlocked traits and weapons for a new campaign with the same character.

If I missed something and there is an option to do so, I'd be grateful if someone pointed in the right way to do so. Thanks!

Weapons only account for a maximum of 50% of your power level. The other half is your two highest archetypes.

I am aware of that, yeah. That said, reaching PL 20 and equipping two entirely new and unlevelled archetypes does not reduce the PL.
I think it's calculated using your overall highest level in the category - you can't just equip the new staff and have PL go down.

I mean....all archetype level does is unlock new skills, it does not boost any of your stats.
As long as you have your leveled weapons you will be fine and you will get to level 5 on any new archetype in no time and have all perks available. so no real need to reset anything.

It's not the archetypes I'm worried about - it's the weapons.

Currently, I have my main build with two 10lvl archetypes and three max level weapons - power level 20. Nothing I can do can lower my power level, period.

If I ever wanted to replay the campaign with this character, but with other weapons and rings (and maybe traits) - my only option would be to equip lvl 1 weapons and go into lvl 21 zones, hoping to find enough scrap and materials quickly to upgrade my new weapons to be on par with the difficulty. Which is, eh, not exactly a smooth experience.

My desired option is to flush all my upgrades to lvl 1 (for weapons, traits, archetypes, relic charges etc.) but keep the option to play the campaign again _while having access to the unlocked eqipment_. Since everything in this game scales to my PL, I don't think it's a problem if I go to Losomn and introduce those Victorian-era lunatics to the business end of the Alpha/Omega at level 1.

*looks at a level 10 medic and level 10 handler combo giving 25% damage bonus each from being level 10* no stats aye.

If only we could lower the level of our archetype/weapons once upgraded.
There aren't a lot of games that allow you to do that.

Or simply "stash away" your archetypes & weapons to lower your power level.

Stashing away does not work: equipping your lowest arch's and weapons does not move the power level down.

Stashing away does not work: equipping your lowest arch's and weapons does not move the power level down.
By stashing away I meant literally a stash in the hub where you can "drop" your archetypes & weapons.
(I wasn't being sarcastic)
It's really an issue when you want to try new stuff.

Oh! I misunderstood, sorry.

no worries.
The power level & scaling system has good and bad aspects.
Not being able to try out new gears without leveling them up is really annoying.

thankfuly we now have an area to try out weapons & mods/skills.

Ended up here trying to find an answer to this very problem, just unlocked archon and I'm wanting to start playing with the classes and weapons i haven't touched and see no real way of doing it, i seem to have to bring something to be able to fight with.
I think a stash locker at ward 13 that effectively removes the gun from your inventory temporarily would be the best course , as it is its either no fun to try PL 20 with 2 x lvl 1 archeotypes and 3 lvl 1 weapons , or roll a new game which just makes me not want to play tbh.

Once you've unlocked a new archetype, you can create a new character that starts with this archetype.
It's not ideal though since you don't get all the unlocks from your other characters...
