[SPOILERS] Is your whole journey pointless?
After seeing how the game ends, I have to ask... does ANYTHING you did int he game matters at all? You go search for Clementine, she doesnt need rescuing. You work your ass off unlocking the path to Root Earth, and it was a red herring that accomplished nothing. Even worse thetimeless keeper of the multiverse cant fix anything without resetting the universe, but Clementime that, buy comparison, barely just arrived, can just fix it all?

In all of that, does anything the player ever do have any real impact? feels like you couldnt be here and things would basically play the same anyway. Gotta say for a game that good man the story has been nothing but terrible, and I feel it can be summed up as "running pointless errands that dont even help solve anything while Clementine does everything important. you get to watch".

Anyone else getting the same feeling?

Jesus there are some punk clowns here missing the point. (not meaning OP)
No, your journey is not pointless. You made difference locally in non root related stories, and clementine and keeper couldnt access root earth without you gathering mcguffins for them.
Also, final boss wouldnt have let them do anything either.
So you did your part and more, you are not in somebody else's story, you are crucial part of it.

We will have to wait for dlcs to see if they were successful to restart the universe.

Like the first game, I figure they'll put out another DLC that continues story/explains. There are 2 blacked out areas on the world selection stone at the bottom.
ngl, I kinda hope they expand on Rhom. first game didn't really scratch that itch the unique dichotomy that world had.

we got desert biome already, nerudh and rhom are kinda similar on that point of view.
we have forest biome already (yaesha) and urban (lohsom), i think reisum would be a more fitting choice if we need to get to a refreshing returning biome as it is the only cold biome known so far, also clementine might want to get back there because she is close to the protector of this world as far as i remember.

We also might get something completely different thoo.

After checking lore aspects of R2, Im seriously shocked how bad it is.
Chronos and R1 brings interesting story about Root invasion and how it affects different Worlds around Universe.

R2 is basically leave me with "It was a doggo dream all this time boys and girls!".

We will find out in some dlc but it is highly unlikely she actually destroyed the root. It also throws the entire lore into question. The root invaded earth in the original games. It came from the stones. If earth is the source of the root like the guardian says how did earth originally get invaded then?

It also shows that ford went to yet another DIFFERENT earth than the one we are on or the root earth so we are looking at a multiverse scenario happening now.

There's two DLC planned to be released. So the story isn't done yet. Right now it's left on a cliffhanger. Likely by design.

It does seem pretty lacking in answers/closure currently. And Ford is left unexplained. So DLC likely has answers once it comes out.

I think it's kind of a moot point, as the Root are now just an intrinsic part of fabric of the universe and we're stuck in an infinite loop of resetting the universe when they get too numerous or powerful to stop conventionally.

So if nothing else we have an in-universe explanation for why we can re-roll the campaign or adventure mode whenever we feel like it.

Root Earth and Ward 13 Earth are not the same apparently.

Root Earth was contained before we tried to kill Annihilation while Ward 13 Earth was free from the Root after we killed Harsgaard.

It's been a multiverse scenario all along. N'Erud is located in a dead universe.

Clem's the reset switch, you the hammer that makes it possible for the reset switch to get where it needs to go and ready itself. That's how I see it, without the Hammer clem couldn't of gotten where she needed to be, and without Clem well the Hammer has no purpose or reason to do what they are doing. Each one need the other, one clear the path the other does what is needed once the path is cleared.

Clem has power, but it has limits and she doesn't have that "killer" aspect needed to break through. She needed the wanderer even though she hated them for popping her naive bubble. And she needed the Traveler to do what she couldn't do, took everything she had just to knock down a barrier. Clem has limits and even if she didn't need rescuing she needed that extra outside effort to help her realize what she can and can't do. I say the traveler kind of helps her mature and buys her time to fully understand and such.

The one that creates the blackhole when used next to the console with that boss? If so then yes.

your main character serves the purpose of brute force. Clementine cant really kill anything. you see her struggle in the tutorial and she could only kill a few root near the end before being powerless.

the player character got downed and was about to be executed in that very same cutscene
