Common courtesy when joining a random multi-player session...
One of my biggest pet peeves in soulslike games are impatient players that join your game, or players willing to screw over your experience for an item they're missing.

I'm still on my first playthrough. I usually keep my session public because I enjoy playing with people, but these recent experiences might change that.

If you're someone who joins random multi-player sessions, these are some things to consider.

1) Keep pace with the host, whatever that pace may be. You might be on your 6th run already, but some people haven't been playing since the early access. If you don't like the speed they're playing at, leave.

2) Don't be a ♥♥♥♥ and speed run their dungeons looking for items. It's not your world, let the host pick them up.

3) Stop running ahead and triggering cutscenes and boss fights. You're robbing the host of that experience.

Bottom line, when you join someone else's game, that isn't your world. If you take away that experience from the host, they can't get it back. When you leave that session, they have to deal with missing out.

People don't always have time for multiple playthroughs of a game. If you don't have the time to play with someone who is looking everywhere on the map, stopping to listen to lore, or not playing as fast as you want, then just leave.

Being a ♥♥♥♥ helps no one.

Might have to, or at least go Friends Only. Randos are inconsiderate douchebags.

this is the first time ive heard of picking up items for the host as ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ behaviour.....

I've never understood this myself. When I join someone else's game I always just follow them. If they are about to leave an area with a secret in it I'll let them know and that's about it. In a game where you can reroll any map, why speedrun someone else's game?

The big issue is the people who start the end of world boss fights, let the host pick his outcome.

Some douche shot Ravager as soon as cut-scene ended because he wanted Merciless, but because he was standing near the Doe his stupid minions ended up killing the Doe. Voiding it (reset doesn't work)

Threads like these have approximately zero effect on general player behavior. You're just going to have to deal with it or figure something else out because you can't control the random behavior of random people.
Multiplayer games are not your thing.

The reason I refuse to let random join me in these kinds of games. Most of em are only thinking about themselves, and don't give two dungs about whether the host is new, or not. If they see going for a specific boss item or not. Only what they specifically want even if it screws the host over.

Just kick and ban em. Anyone who does pretty much anything u described i usually kick. As far as im converned when i join someone elses game, im basically playing follow the leader, where ever they go is where i go.

Yup the potential for Randos to F-up your game is too high for me to ever open up my game to non-friends.

The lack of in game chat or text, amplifies that situation a thousandfold.

I duo only with my wife and we have a strict rule in place that only the person who's world it is gets to interact with something first. Even then its not perfect since someone can always potentially trigger something by accident.

I just had two randoms join my game on Survival Mode and it went smoothly except with the random freezing and glitching. I have a decent rig too. We shared loot for the most part. I even had players who shot the ammo box for me to pick up. I'm playing as a Medic and its pretty tough to get the feel of it. I would like to find a group of people who don't mind playing with a newer player like me. I just have to somehow fix the lagging.

I don't mind waiting for hosts cause I wouldn't want the same thing to be done to me but occasionally you get that one host who just takes forever to move. But I usually still wait unless its been 10-15 minutes than I just leave.
