Remnant II
The Final Boss kinda Sucks
I think everyone can agree that a final boss should be a culmination of the skills a player developed throughout a game. The final boss of this game fails to do that.

If you like hitting enemies with swords, too bad. Not gonna happen with this guy since most of the fight has it dangling off an instant-death ridge.

If you have sunk your resources into single-shot weapons or quirky weapons that you thought were fun then too bad, the bullet-sponge nature of the boss means that it will kill you before you can kill it so if you don't have an actually good weapon then you're screwed. You'd better like to farm for loads of upgrade resources so you can upgrade an actually good weapon.

If you like the music then too bad, the boss has some very critical audio cues so it's best to mute the music so you can semi-reliably dodge its attacks.

If you like understanding what the hell is going on then too bad. The boss is a serious case of sensory overload during most of the fight.

I've seen this boss beaten twice, both times by people who had extremely tanky builds involving a lot of regen, a lot of fully upgraded weapons, and both times I died mid-boss so my character wasn't even present during the final cutscene (even when it was my campaign that was hosting).

I know the community for a game like this is toxic as hell so there'll be a lot of "skill issue" comments but while this game started fun, it ended on a helluva low note. The whole final world was a boring slog and while I have technically beaten the game I just don't have the drive to beat the final boss and It's so bad that I think I'd have a hard time recommending this game to other interested players.

It's not that bad. the ques are louder than the music so I always heard them, I don't get how it's sensory overload if you just need to watch his sword or his hands if he doesn't have it, I beat him with a single shot weapon 'Deceit', and as for melee I agree but that's most bosses and that sucks.
This man would lose his mind in Returnal
i maxed out invader and the fight become extremely simple. I suggest you do so too.
Venom and cancer were harder than annihilation on my nightmare playthrough. Took less than an hour for the final boss
2ND PHASE IS JUST BORDEOM
It was the culmination of everything you learned in the game.

DODGE. DODGE. DODGE. DODGE TWICE. DODGE AGAIN. DIP. DUCK.DIVE. DODGE.
i do think this game has a real issue with making enemies that cant really be hit by melee, despite their claims of making melee more viable as build options, there's so many bosses where you can't, or your window for hitting them would make the fight take hours. Flyers, mostly, and for whatever reason Remn II has a ton more flying enemies than 1 did.

I'm going yo try a melee focused build at some point, but I wonder if its balanced by the damage melee does compared to ranged. I've gotten SOOOO many melee focused rings, mutators, amulets...etc, that there has to be some beastly melee builds possible, now whether you can hit the boss is another story lol. I can name a few bosses that are impossible with melee alone, like bloat King and Gwendil: The unburnt

The one melee weapon that would work perfectly is the spear that you can throw like a ranged attack, but at that point is it really "melee" still.
The final boss in this game is absolutely awesome.
I did it with the standard bonesaw machine gun that the medic starts with upgraded to +10 or +11, with the fire bullets mod in it you get at the very beginning. I was also using the regular heart you get at the very beginning of the game.

Took me maybe 10-12 tries. By like try 4, the first phase had already gotten to the point that I almost couldn't lose it. The attacks are pretty easy to dodge.

The second phase does feel a bit cheap at times, especially with the time sink of having to hack through the first phase every time eating up a minute or so.

Granted I did it as archon/medic... But I really don't think the Archon bit had much to do with it. The special certainly wasn't useful on the boss. It helped me have fire bullets up more often, and made fire bullets do more damage I suppose. But other arch-types would have just brought other advantages that would have been more useful.

There's a shock axe you can throw as well.

Meh second phase is tedious from all the light show. Almost killed my eyes before I killed boss. XD

Yeah when I got to the second phase. my eyes were bleeding red. I couldn't tell what was going on. Plus the switching back and forth, made me feel nauseated for a moment.
I was still using my huntsman and repeater pistol for this fight, was roughhhh, but I did like the fight at the end
Final area in general is annoying, at absolute best.
Sure, it's not impossibly hard, but it's nothing like anything else in the game in terms of sudden difficulty. Swim or drown, I guess.
It also made me feel stupid for making a tank build. Looking at you Venom, you ♥♥♥♥. That dude had so many instant-kills that made my build worthless, compounded by the fact that I couldn't even aggro him and fulfill my role as the tank while my friends utilized their builds, no matter what I tried he deemed literally everything else more worthy.
Final boss is all of your annoyances throughout the entire game plus the new headache from the final zone, culminated into one encounter I'll never want to do again.

Maybe CO-OP has something to do with how unbearable it feels?
Final boss was one of the best and most interesting boss fights I had in recent years.

Yeah, kinda sucks how melee builds in this game are screwed not by raw numbers or skill...
But because a large number of actual bosses are either flying, floating or have their weak points up above the reach of our heroes.

There's a spear you can toss...
And a shock-axe that looks like somebody took a Bionicle's frosty-gum plastic and ported it to Remnant 2...

But that's about it. IMO, kind of a shame we don't have any throw-able hammers.
