The Final Boss kinda Sucks
I think everyone can agree that a final boss should be a culmination of the skills a player developed throughout a game. The final boss of this game fails to do that.

If you like hitting enemies with swords, too bad. Not gonna happen with this guy since most of the fight has it dangling off an instant-death ridge.

If you have sunk your resources into single-shot weapons or quirky weapons that you thought were fun then too bad, the bullet-sponge nature of the boss means that it will kill you before you can kill it so if you don't have an actually good weapon then you're screwed. You'd better like to farm for loads of upgrade resources so you can upgrade an actually good weapon.

If you like the music then too bad, the boss has some very critical audio cues so it's best to mute the music so you can semi-reliably dodge its attacks.

If you like understanding what the hell is going on then too bad. The boss is a serious case of sensory overload during most of the fight.

I've seen this boss beaten twice, both times by people who had extremely tanky builds involving a lot of regen, a lot of fully upgraded weapons, and both times I died mid-boss so my character wasn't even present during the final cutscene (even when it was my campaign that was hosting).

I know the community for a game like this is toxic as hell so there'll be a lot of "skill issue" comments but while this game started fun, it ended on a helluva low note. The whole final world was a boring slog and while I have technically beaten the game I just don't have the drive to beat the final boss and It's so bad that I think I'd have a hard time recommending this game to other interested players.

I thought the fight was awful. Too much visual noice.

It's not that bad. the ques are louder than the music so I always heard them, I don't get how it's sensory overload if you just need to watch his sword or his hands if he doesn't have it, I beat him with a single shot weapon 'Deceit', and as for melee I agree but that's most bosses and that sucks.

♥♥♥♥ was easy.

it's difficult. took me quite a while. almost all bosses are just a matter of learning dodge windows though. really it's not much different from other bosses if you break it down. I did think that hitting phase 3, and it swapping between p1 and p2 mid strike was super whackadoo at first, but, it's very do-able. It's just a LOT of timers to learn.

I was definitely super frustrated my first day trying it, i did maybe 8-12 attempts the first day, and then took a break. when I came back to it, it probably took me another 8-12 attempts. If i could just do it back to back to back, I believe I could get it down to a 1-3 attempt boss. I'm not particularly good at the game. I understand your frustration, and i completely get it seeming super stupid. but I promise once you start to learn it, and finally beat it, (hopefully like me) you'll think it's a very creative and neat boss fight.

the tip I have for you is paying attention to the sound ques. There are a LOT of different attacks, all having their own dodge windows, but the sound ques really helped me dial in the fight.

While I can understand that if you're a Melee-focused character this can be a tad frustrating, plenty of other bosses don't really allow for melee combat either.

The gunplay is first and foremost in these games, and melee is something to be used as a backup strat in most cases.

Also, GOD FORBID the game ask you to pay attention to a loud, screeching noise that accompanies a pre-set pattern to help you dodge...

Honestly, prefacing your comment with "Ya'll are toxic so I know you're going to tell me I'm doing something wrong" just shows how toxic YOU are, and that's why you're struggling... If you had just said "Hey, any tips on the final boss?" people could tell you the myriad ways to deal with specific situations and how to handle the boss.

There's people who have defeated the boss just using the standard scrap revolver upgraded to around +10 with the default dragon heart wearing the starter challenger armor. It's not like the game demands you do THAT much to beat it, you just have to be willing to try.

Also, it's easier solo because of scaling. There's absolutely no need to max out guns. I've done it with a +5 Nightweaver rifle and +6 cubegun with the help of the toxic release valve amulet to delete the lightning balls completely for literally 0 effort. As a Handler/Summoner.

Give it a few weeks and people will be doing it naked with no healing and using only the rusted repeater.

Spent a good few hours yesterday and still haven't beaten this boss yet. The first phase is kinda ok, the second phase is what gives me the trouble. There is so much going on in the screen, that I die pretty much instantly. Another issue is that I run out of ammo by the time the second phase starts.

Will try to level up my weapons, traits and archetypes more. I'm playing on Veteran difficulty. A bit disappointed that there is no way to change difficulty without re-rolling the campaign.

If you are running out of ammo bring ammo boxes and there are some pretty decent tips in this thread you can look at.

ammo is very readily available. in the first phase, all those red lasers hitting the ground, when they reset, and respawn, the ones that got replaced each have a high chance to drop an ammo pack. in the alternate phase, I know that ammo drops almost as hard, but i'm not sure what it's from, possible the root barriers despawning. It's definitely difficult to watch the boss, and hunt for ammo packs at the same time. which is why I mentioned the attack sound ques in my previous post.

i found the final boss fight to be the most interesting. as well as the fake king fight and the other two phase battle cant remember the name.

i did it as a hunter/gunslinger and did a main dps role with the AR-47. but i would also die in 1-2 hits. but i had my duo partner do a supp tank role and he would buff up to not get pushed off of reviving me if i where to go down. gunslinger also makes ammo easy to get.
i pretty much never stopped shooting unless it was to dodge or reload and had ammo the whole fight.

As for me, the problem is not so much that this boss is difficult, but that it is very difficult compared to the others. I went through all the bosses along the way without any problems. Of course the bosses weren't exactly easy, but I felt that their difficulty matched my progress and skills. The difficulty of the final boss has increased significantly compared to the rest. The game either wants me to farm (and I don't like to do that), or sweat for hours learning a complex pattern with a minimum margin for error. My progress is not enough for the selected aspects of my build (healer and dog handler) to give at least some profit on this boss. Neither hill nor dog do anything. Dodge is the only possible survival mechanic on this boss for me.

I really really love the final boss. I am very tired right now so I don't have the energy to absorb this whole discussion right now, much less elaborate on why I love it.

I just wanted to put into the universe here that I think the final boss was done very well. Will elaborate later.

Well, visual noise was very annoying but the boss was one of the best. No ads, variable moveset, great visuals, audio clues, clear openings for attack.
