Is co-op progression only for host?
So I read on Gamestop site an article related to co-op and they said the following:
"Note that progress in co-op is only saved for the host. While you'll be able to keep any earned Scrap, materials, and gear you earn while playing in someone else's game, you will not retain any story progress when returning to your world."
Is this true?
I was planning on purchasing the game next week to play with my friend, the same we did with the first game, but now I'm reconsidering my purchase, as I'd like my progression to be saved the same as my friend.

Yes. Story progress is host only.

Don't worry too much, its the type of game that requires many playthroughs to see and unlock everything.,

There is no such thing as "story progression" because you're meant to be reseting the campaign once you're done with it.
Story progression translates to rewards for completing things.

The important things are all the gears and trait you unlock, and those are obtained by all players in the lobby.

Either I am misunderstanding, or this kinda makes no sense?
Does Remnant 2 not have a story that you progress through? Be it random maps or not?
If yes, then the objective can be completed on any of the random maps presented in the host's game, which also means it could be done in my game world as well because we have the same game with the same set amount of assets that build those random maps = should be able to save the objective checkmark.

I'm sorry I have a hard time understanding you, but I will try to explain.

When you play the campaign, the game picks one of the world and generates a playthrough.
Then you go from world to world until you reach the end.
All of the things you will find can be found in another player's campaign or in adventure mode (which is basically "just play one world")

What I mean is, there is no such thing as "story progression". It's not like characters evolve or you obtain things that will stay permanently attached to your world.
Each campaign is meant to be completed and then reset.
Which means it doesn't really matter.

I have my character, some friends come into my campaign and help me out. They get gears, and later on they'll play their own campaign and find other challenges that will give them other gears.

The game is meant to be replayed over and over again. Each world has more dungeons and 2 different "final boss" for that world than you actually get in a single run. It generates the world in a RNG way so not all the content is there. You gotta do a new run to get a different set of dungeons.

You can just play on your friend's game and play you're own game and you'll have different dungeons and maybe a different boss for the same world.

This is a much better explanation. I guess I'll look up a video on youtube for more details without getting spoiled to know whethere I'll be liking what I'm getting into or not.

If i remember right. Didn't remnant 1 do the same thing? progress only updated for the host.
The friends i played with all had to make their own campaigns in order to progress without me.

Yep
Except in remnant 1 it matters because you unlock 1 NPC and 1 very important consummable through the campaign that will stay in your HUB.
