How to reload campaign

Hi all,

I recently finished the campaign, and decided to load up an adventure to target farm some traits I missed in my first playthrough, being told repeatedly that one can have an active campaign save and an active adventure mode save.

I clicked on the 'World Settings' option on the red teleporter in town, clicked the empty right square to create a new adventure, selected the planet I wanted, the difficulty, but then my campaign in the left side of the screen was replaced by the newly made Adventure mode. My assumption was that the adventure would appear in the empty slot on the right so that I could return to my campaign by selecting it in the left save slot. The big exclamation point saying 'Adventure mode DOES NOT reset story campaign progress' made me confident in this assumption.

Is this a bug? Is my campaign lost? The only button referring to the campaign I can see is the 'reroll campaign' button, which is not what I want to do.

If it's intended for the left slot to be replaced with the adventure, how to I reload my old campaign?
