Why wear heavier armor?
How is it that we don't get any form of stagger reduction or resist from wearing heavier armors? The defense is a given for heavier sets but its practically not worth it if we can't use it to trade and get locked down by attacks from various trash mobs. Best way to go about it while remaining even remotely durable is to use stoneskin on alchemist and swing for the fences. An archetype shouldn't be something that has to validate what the armors should be doing; only making it better instead of being a compensator for what heavier sets should be doing in the first place.

If you're getting stunlocked by "Trash mobs" the problem isn't your armor, mate. It's you getting into bad places and getting swarmed and not taking them out fast enough.

This isn't dark souls. You're not meant to face-tank your way through the game.

The heavier armors provide damage resistance to compensate for taking stray hits. It makes getting clipped less punishing. It's not there to soak up damage for you so you can just LMB your way through entire groups of enemies without thinking.

Seems to me when you get hit, it hurts no matter what armor you use. So the idea is to not get hit. For me that's the space suit w fast roll and no stamina penalty. I figure people just like the royal set for looks.

A heavier armor is supposed to promote a heavier style. Even in Dark souls you can't face tank everything either.
Shocking I know. I'm not asking to be able to smash my face on a button and expect to win. I'm expecting to be able to trade when I want and need to and commit to my trades fully well knowing that this is going to hurt and my armor is there to compensate for some of the blows coming my way.
I'm a powerhouse walking into pain knowing full well im here to brawl and gonna get hit. I'm not immune to that mistake. But what's the point of a heavier armor if it's not going to compensate my inability to dodge for stagger resist other than a damage reduction? It makes lighter armors or just being naked a better choice to avoid it rather than accept a trade and dealing with it that way.
Diverse playstyles alright. Diversing straight into I should just dodge everything because armor doesn't do half of the other function it's made for.

thats lame and makes heavy armor useless because you cant roll that far

I mean by your logic, heavy armor should stagger lock you more, since its heavier to move in. Hence why weight impacts dodging and dodge speed.
You need to sacrifice things if you want to use others.

Even Dark Souls would punish you for trying to wade into a group of trash mobs. It's there to let you take riskier moves, not do braindead stupid moves.

Armor actually does reduce incoming damage in this game, so there's that. Last I heard it was currently bugged and you could get over 100% reduction and become invincible, though its intended to cap at 80%.

Also if you want a reason to go over 100% carry weight, if you try to dodge roll 100 times like that Reggie will sell Leto's Amulet.

Armor doesn't matter that much and can't be upgraded anyways. There are plenty of archetype perks, traits, amulets, rings to mitigate damage, or increase stamina and stamina regen, health, roll range etc... Choose whatever your archetype comes with and you good to go.
Heavy armor is probably only for the melee starter archetype, and that's pretty much all...

there actually a trait to increase the rolls , also heavier armor are for short range / melee character, but yeah armor doesn't matter that much since they remove set upgrades

Well if its all in Traits/Archetypes then there is clearly a flawled logic here isnt there?

Armor Should give u reasonable protection for the price ur paying, which is ♥♥♥♥ dodge, i too have not seen armor taking much effect, no matter which armor variant i picked, to me it just feels like its bugged rn, in Souls games at least u could feel the difference between armors.

As it stands, there really is no point in wearing heavy armor UNLESS u have traits/archetype passive that allows u to mitigate damage better WHILE wearing Heavy Armor.

Besides that, i see no point as the weight drastically changes ur dodges.

If armor should be Cosmetic, then delete Armor values from all of em and just let it be as skins , easy fix.

armor is plenty usefull you just need to build right im on 200 or something armor with my engineer on short before flop limit my playstyle revolves around the heavy gun the engineer gets and with that thing even flop doges are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fast and far but very stamina consuming and most of the time i survive 3-5 hits from bosses until i go down on nightmare but im very vulnerable to elemental damage

literal lies that everyone is stating on here just played Survivor wish is the easiest diff and if get to max powerlever wish will happen becuse the scaling is so off its insane for it to be easy mode dont matter what armor you wear its a Insta kill almost on all bosses and 1 to 2 shots even with Letos and Enginer challenger build it serious stupid how this scaling works hope Lords Of the fallen dont have this stupid ass scaling adn ton of useless accessory and weapons like Nebula or any pistols but a few like the rocket gun like you dont feel stronger when level up and gearing just weaker since scaling

Find the bright steel ring and wear the heaviest armour in the game with 0 downsides and the fastest dodge in the game, your welcome.

Actually, you 100% could. Like one of the most popular strategies for the 4 Kings fight was to just put on stone/Havel/giant armor, put a grass crest shield on your back, two-hand your weapon, and r1 spam while face tanking all of their hits.
