Corruptor Alt Kill halp.

So I tried to get the alt kill on the Corruptor (which is apparently to kill the Corruptor while the robot/golem is still alive ) aaaaand I just got the same reward as before, I didn't get the Hollow Heart so that I could make the Stonebreaker.

If you haven't realized it by now, stop reading if you haven't fought this boss 'cause I'm gonna stop using spoiler tags.

When the Corruptor died, the robolem was CERTAINLY still alive when I last looked at'im. BUT the Corruptor died while it was shooting it's laser beam and maybe it killed the robolem with the laser just before it died?? Or maybe IGN is wrong and that isn't even the alt kill, I dunno.

I didn't attempt at it, but looking on different sources I understand you have to kill the Corruptor without ever downing the golem. if you kill it once, the Corruptor moves to resurrect it and you wasted your chance at an alt kill.

you CANNOT down the golem EVER the entire fight. If it gets downed once and starts getting revived by the corrupter then you failed. Corrupter cannot kill the golem with a laser, it does no damage to it so don't worry about lasers hitting the golem.
The laser itself opens up a weakpoint so abuse that to make the fight faster.

I tried a trick someone mentioned before: I did the fight without downing the robot and lowered the boss HP a lot. When the boss was very low, I downed the robot and killed the boss as he was flying towards the robot (by shooting the bottom weakpoint) and I got the item you want.

If you're gonna go through the trouble of getting the boss to low health you mightaswell as just kill it without risking the item-change. When it opens up to do it's laser btw it's mouth is a weakpoint.

So the real trigger is the rez. Not downing the golem. Every guide I've seen just says the golem has to live so this is good to know.

easy setup for that boss:
Step 1: Jump over to another platform
Step 2: kill the golem hand above the void
Step 3: Hands stuck
Step 4: Profit ......

Normally I'd agree but when I soloed the boss, I had a hard time hitting the mouth weak spot because of the robot chasing, vs not worrying about the robot and just discharging all my damage at the weak spot. It sped up the process a few minutes probably? It's hard to calculate unless you've done it at least once (which I did when I first killed the boss since I downed the robot every time I could). Like I said, it was just a tip I saw someone recommend. They claimed to have gotten both items at once doing that but I couldn't tell if I did or not.
