never play on public, the game has no matchmaking and no communication.
Cheaters can join your game and give a lot of scrap or max out your level, it can even bug out your save file.
Play on the game discord, it was never meant as a multiplayer game with matchmaking

I'd never play this game with pugs. There's just too much garbage that can happen.

Would never play with randoms unfortunately. It's too easy to cheat or unintentionally benefit from people cheating, or perhaps even get negatively affected on your save.

In addition to echoing the above, about 'joining a gaming clan or group rather than pubbing it', check your windows firewall. The first time the game initiates its networking it should have asked for you to approve a set of firewall changes and if you accidentally (or deliberately) said no you won't have multiplayer.

Due to the recent outbreak of mod users, you might end up ruining your experience and your saves. I would have liked to play with randoms, but I ended up playing only with friends instead ( or solo ), not wanting to test my luck because of them.

Never play with randoms. All those "mods will save this game" people basically killed playing in random pubs.

Hopefully all those people modding the difficulty out of this game would get bored and leave. Or at least a major patch bricks their save.

Backup your save file before joining non-friend rooms, even through discords and stuff, only trust your friends. Cheaters can permanently screw up your save.

Make your own Back Up Save! press = WINDOWS (Key) + R [roamdata- goto Folder- remnant 2] = Saved <--- COPY just "Saved" and make a New folder - rename it = Paste "Saved" in New Folder then Copy the New folder and paste it in a External USB! Always have your LAST SAVE 100% :) Host can Kick and it will not save only last checkpoint! Leave Game before Host Kicks will Save!!! or if Host Exits to Menu or closes game and you DON'T get the Message you been kicked/ban it will Save!!! World Stone Checkmark (all sit) + Travel + Exit to Menu = Saves your game at that specific second!!! "hackers" lol or g00gle search "m0dz" just press Alt + F4 and game will NOT SAVE and you don't need to worry about fake h@ckers :) If you have a Back up Save, then who cares who joins or who YOU join! you can Quit at anytime and nothing will happen if you are worried! Last Thing, i've been playing Multiplayer Coop Join Game or Hosting and i see the SAME EXACT players ( STEAM Names ) or Epic Games numbers names and Chinese or Japan Symbols (Extremely Common) + maybe Russi@ symbols (more rare)! Remnant 2 - Join Game = SAME NAMES since LAUNCH! Why is it Region LOCKED??? How do i Search for Different People? REGION LOCK Remnant 2 = How do i UNLOCK to play with different random people?
