If the boss dies before you go near the door, this one will remain shut for this playtrough.
It's one thing to have RNG items appear each playthrough for a unique experience, that's fine. But to put an item there, and lock it behind an enemy that doesn't respawn, so that you can permanently miss it and have to spend 10 hours looking for it again, that's just stupid. I'm guessing it's probably a just a ring that adds +10% to reload speed or something small like that too.
