Ubisoft Game Launcher = problem --->>> problem solved !
Hi all ! The game has not been launched for quite some time (more than a month).
Multiple reinstallation of uplay and connect did not help ((and cleaning cache, files) .
Gives the same error: program files (x86)/ubisoft/ubisoft game launcher/libcef.dll .
Has anyone had a similar problem?

Here, using Linux , the Ubisoft Lauchner cannot start -> "unknown error" and prevents me from playing.
@Mitch Steam installs an "light" Version of the Ubisoft Launcher to start Anno1404

I know Anno runs perfectly on my machine so it makes me angry that every f**king publisher wants to install his own Extra-Launcher on your pc

I downloaded and installed the original launcher, the latest version from the Ubisoft website.
No change, still the same error.

Just got the game on Steam and it will not launch, stops at some sort of Ubisoft update sgreen, seems like I am not alone with this problem. Had a look at the problem solving site and could not make sense of it. Congrats on screwing me over Ubisoft, rest assured I will not be buying any future games from you.

I have been playing ANNO 1404 for a long time. The problem arose after updating Ubisoft Connect Launcher (IMHO). Everything worked fine before the update! There is a problem with the files when launching: program files (x86)/ubisoft/ubisoft game launcher/libcef.dll . Could you developers make a new upgrade to the Connect Launcher to fix this problem ?

Hey, I had the same problem. I had to open the Ubisoft launcher separately. This allowed the launcher to update and then I had to sign in. So, its a pain, but if you jump through Ubisoft's hoops, you can play the game.

Hi there, I just encountered the same problem on Linux, and playing around between different versions of Proton did help to run the launcher - but not the game.

This article on ubisoft support page https://www.ubisoft.com/en-gb/help/connectivity-and-performance/article/ubisoft-connect-pc-compatibility-with-windows-8/000104482 it points to a modifed connect launcher, stripped out of chat functionality. I have tested it on windows 8 ( 8.1) pc and it seems to work for now !

Ubisoft has a reputation for that. I wished Valve would put out warnings. They didn't put out a warning of this game installing an own launcher. That would have made me look at who published it and prevented my purchase. Now I need to hope, steam refunds it as I will never join Ubisoft. Their violation history is too huge.

valve actually put warnings on the store page, while i agree that ubi:shit: is a huge cancer company that one is entirely on you for ignoring the obvious warnings
