Task Force Admiral

Task Force Admiral

The new "Battlestations: Pacific"
I tried out the dogfight mode, and while it was clunky I really adore the idea very much. Imagine being able to launch aircraft and then swapping into the pilot seat. This would truly make it a successor to the Battlestations series that I grew up with. Keep up the good work!

Hello there

Yes indeed, once it's unclunk-ed, it should provide that sort of experience to whoever likes that sort of stuff. It will remain optional to whoever wishes not to be hands-on - but there's always that kind of extreme satisfaction one might derive from taking the lead like in Pacific Air War, Pacific Storm or Battlestations. The game will aim to offer you guys that sort of choice.

Cheers :)

Great that the game will offer that level of flexibility to suit a wide range of players just as the original Microprose games Task Force 1942 & Pacific Air War did back in the day.
Yes indeed, and the main reason it's desirable to be able to jump into cockpits and take control at will isn't so much because we can, but because it's better to have human control at key moments instead of letting the AI do it. At least, if we can manually drop torps and bombs (and win dogfights) ourselves, we only have ourselves to blame if it all goes wrong ;) Don't forget to give us manual carrier landings too. I could have fun just doing carrier landings all day, especially on a pitching and rolling deck in bad weather.

Personally, I'm waiting for some solid proof that surface to surface combat is engaging. Much more invested in charging in and cutting a ship in half with some 406mm broadsides (or if we're really lucky... 460mms) than I am sitting at the far end of a combat zone while all the other ships get to have all the fun.

@ Lestrad everything sounds so much more deadly in mm vs inches :)
