Just an idea.
same i made the i guess mistake of buying a micro keyboard i also dont have a numpad <3
Basically what I've been doing is using the OOB menu to select the correct squadron and then using pgup/pgdn to cycle through until I get to the right unit.
This is the easiest way I've found so far.
Issues with this method;
Additional clutter on screen
much greater time spent on navigating menus and selecting correct units
Linear nature of the "pgup/pgdn" means significantly more time swapping through units to navigate to the desired one.
Possibility of "breaking lock" I.E. clicking on the ocean will cause your camera to break the lock on the desired unit, forcing you to reset the entire process.
Solution;
Allow players to left click on units in the Tactical overlay in order to lock camera + hotkey a "lock free cam" so that no external inputs will make the camera disengage from the locked unit.
if dev make game for pc you need a keybord
sorry but for the start of developemnt of a game this is normal
Related to this, it would be nice if to follow a formation you didn't have to click on the formation, then the subgroup, then the element of that sub unit and then click on the pilot's name each time you want to change your PoV in the 3d mode using the OOB as described above. If I click on the formation it should jump to the leader of the formation in one click, if I want to pick a particular subgroup then when I select it I should go to the leader of that group, ditto for the element, not always having to go through 4-5 clicks to get the PoV of a particular plane. When you have opened up several different formations and elements you end up with a huge amount of clutter. Dozens of nested levels and elements of planes, and dozens of little + and - signs you are continually clicking to open and close the various groups, elements and individual planes you can select.
This game already has a lot of micromanagement which can be not the most exciting, watching the air battles and bombing happening is the most fun part of the game. But having to pause air combats continually so you can try to figure out who's in combat and actually watch it happening really slows things down and breaks the immersion.
