edit: the game isn't stopping. steam says it's trying to stop the game, but it's not stopping.
I can provide a Savegame if you tell me where to upload
I noticed that the engine sounds from aircraft continue when you pause. Perhaps they could be stopped as well, then continue when you un-pause again.
In one case, the game crashed when I hit the X button to close the Deck View Ouji board while there was action going on (bogeys, planes in the air, etc).
And CTD, of course...
Intro brief audio for Coral Sea doesn't have the gravity I would expect for the situation. ...sounds less than convincing, more theatrics and less serious than the situation warranted...considering its the first battle after Pearl Harbor and the USN was anything but confident in its ability at that stage.. Perhaps the audio tone should be more inline with Chester Nimitz voice considering TF orders would have been briefed to Fletcher from Nimitz. Additionally, in the brief, the capital of New Guinea is mentioned 3 times by name. In the first two it is pronounced incorrectly (as though it is pronounced Port Mozeby rather than Port Moores-by). The second mention it was pronounced correctly, the third mention incorrectly. This may seem a trivial point historically but I would assume many players interested in this game would have an eye for detail considering the nature of the game.
I also attempted to return to the start menu once I started (to find the link for this forum) but the game froze and it was still running in Steam even though I closed steam in the task manager. Needed to restart to fix the issue.
Two things i noticed:
I would wish for clearer tools to work the strategic map with, including maneuvering your Task Forces. - something along the lines of the old Silent Hunter III would be amazing. Intuitive, easy.
Time Warp wasn't intuitive for me. Took me a while to find out that multiple clicks on the speed up button would increase it, and i wasn't clear to me which conditions would cause the timewarp to fall back a step.
Idea: Introduce a button that advances time until the next event (scheduled launch, sightings report etc.)
Great experience overall so far, keep up the good work!
-Really good concept! I'm looking forward to the final release
-GFX and SFX are solid
-Music is good, though the track switching happens a little too often and the music loop gets to repetitive. There needs to be more "downtime" music so the hype music has impact.
-Combat looks great! Very satisfying to watch it unfold.
-Watching the aircraft form up and proceed enroute looks glorious. Straight out of film!
---------Constructive feedback:
-The mouse cursor does not seem to scale with resolution. In 3840x2160 the mouse is about 1/8" big on my screen and very difficult to find. Make it bigger and scale please!
-Need more tools to adjust how the deck is spotted or how the deck schedule will be conducted. The AI choose some wildly inefficient ways to operate the deck.
-Need a way to tell the deck when things are off-schedule and realign schedules to the actual times of things occurring. For instance, when a STK package is "deferred" the time to form up and depart is not calculated into when they will return, which leaves the recovery window forever delayed.
-Need a button to cancel/delete STK packages created in error.
-Creating STK packages is not intuitive, it's too easy to navigate away and then the package is forever in limbo. I probably spent 15+ minutes trying to get a STK package sent (I did read the demo manual, twice).
-It's not clear in the manual or game what some of the options will do, such as the order to "stay clear" or the strike package "early spotting." The risk/reward of these choices is not explained.
-If an option exists to adjust the heading/speed of the TF I cannot find it. If it will be added later, disregard.
