Early spotting strikes
So aren't we able to early spot strikes without a target? I thought you were able to use the early spot order too spot the strike on the deck until a target is designated and the order for takeoff is given. I'm trying a strategy where one of my CVs takes the heavy lifting when providing fighters, and the other prepares a strike package for immediate takeoff when a target is found.

I assign the planes, set early spotting, and close the clipboard. I see the timeline in the bottom state that spotting is supposed to begin, but nothing happens on deck. I have seen it work I believe before, but the last few attempts the carriers crew don't seem to do anything towards preparing

I did not as I thought that would schedule them to also launch, that's my mistake! Thank you!

You're welcome.

would it be possible to launch a strike choosing a position and not a target ?
Yes, choose a location on the map is an option when you click on select target.

I never select a target. I always select a point on the map where I project the enemy will be when my strike package arrives
I had thoughts along similar lines but it appears impossible to edit strike package waypoints after they are greenlit. It is possible to edit cap areas after the flight is already in the air, but doesn't seem possible for a strike while its sitting on the deck.

Yeah there's no way to alter the waypoints when launched which caused my massive strike from Yorktown to miss with approximately like 2 flights of Dauntless'. Luckily the rest that hit were capable of taking out both CVs lol

You can edit target if the strike is early spotting mode. We'll see if enableing this for all modes makes sense
