game seems pretty cool
how is the repetitiveness? I don't mind playing Hades, knowing how repetitive that can be aside from build variety, how is this game in comparison? I think i'm just gonna buy it and find out haha

less repatative than hades.

each area has 3 bosses for a total of 13 main bosses and 6 optional mini-bosses so it already destroys Hades in variation of enemies. lots of different spells and aura passives.

very similar pact of punishment type thing too.

I like hades a whole lot its a very well made game but I couldn't make myself finish the game enough times to get all the pact of punishment statues and acheivement. game got very old for me. every run in this game feel pretty different from each other due to the variety

To add on the Gambit and Spell systems add a lot of variety.

To keep up the comparisons to Hades, your character choice in Astral Ascent is essentially your weapon choice in Hades, but each character has a whole slew of unique spells that can be changed mid-run and really mix up things each run. It's like an even more dynamic and random version of the Blessing system from Gods in Hades to choose effects for your abilities.

Add on that each spell can have a maximum of four Gambits, which are pure additional effects on your spells. There's a whole slew of elemental effects and statuses that can be activated and/or applied via Gambits (as well as some other things). Gambits can do things like summon temporary allies, additional damaging effects, restore health or mana, the list goes on. Gambits add a huge amount of variety and really helps push that "each run is unique" feel.

There's also a few other systems that help with variety, like Auras and Prowesses as well.
