Final boss down slash

What's the dodge timing for the aerial down slash on the final boss?

I can't figure out why I'm failing to dodge it 90% of the time no matter what timing or angle I try.

It seems like I SHOULD be jumping and angling to the side based on phase two where it punishes anyone who dodges on the ground, but timing is crazy awful in the air
