Ship install question
So for the past two weeks I've been trying to install some ships from one mod to another, purely for my own use. I downloaded Ram's catalogue and after the two weeks I'm pretty familiar with the instructions in it. Sometimes I win sometimes I lose and usually when I do fail I mostly can't figure why but when I get it wrong the game freezes or the ship doesn't show up at all. I got a strange fail last night though, the ship I installed shows in the museum but not in the game. I've gone back through everything and I seem to have followed Ram's guide to the letter. Are some ships simply not transferable?

Have you added it to the seaUnits.txt in the campaign folder?

Campaign ship units file check that it is listed, if not you can manually install by copy past method. Just create a space between the class of ships and copy paste in the empty space. save and close, start a new game and see if it shows up.

i would like to add a ship from the east indies campaign to the regular campaign. Such as akagi or kaga. How would i go about doing this?

Sgt_C4. I started by visiting the group Discord site, scrolling down to 'mods' and downloading 'Rams Catalog'. There are instructions for copying over ships from one mod to another.

While trying to move a unit from one mod to another (for personal use) I'm following the steps on the rams unit catalogue. However it comes to a pain where it asks about copying the ordnance file across (the one on windows that looks like a plain file) do I just overwrite the current mod ordnance file or do I rename it ?

This is one of the most frustrating things, and everything seems to break one way or another. I've even tried using ChatGPT to go over the text files to make sure I got everything, and no joy. Has anyone figured out a slick, easy, way to copy ships from say Rams to TTE?

Sadly there doesn't seem to be an easy way, but the tutorial with copying instructions instructions in the RamZ catalogue is very good.

If you follow the instructions precisely it does work. It was how I learned how to transfer units from one mod to another and I seldom have any problems even though I'm no expert. Sometimes though a particular torpedo or gun just won't work. Then you have to use a bit of creative ordnance management and substitute the faulty weapon with one that does work.

It's tricky, but it's doable. The only constant I've found is that if it doesn't work then I know I've made a stuff-up somewhere. So you just puzzle it out, and that to me is the attraction of modding. It's all just a puzzle.

First make a back-up of your existing ammunition folder and put it somewhere safe so if there's a problem you have a fall back. Then I should just copy the mod_ordnance file as is. I have 3 mod_ordnance files in my ammunition folder - mod_ordnance, mod_ordnance_2, and mod_ ordnance1 (which I believe is just a copy of mod_ordnance). I don't get many problems so it seems to be working okay. Just try it and see, you have a back-up.
