Expanded Arsenal Music Pack (50mb): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Gu9fXVoLH3ubfalVmrDvRvO95d8mgI4N/view?usp=sharing

Features

If you do not like the pop-culture names, then this mod features more historical names. This addition is credited to "Chernov // Colin" as he was the person who renamed the ships. Should not have any compatibility issues.

Integrated optional installation to make it compatible with The Tokyo Express. Operation Magazine compatibility no longer integrated (use rtbCT mod).

Music pack to replace the existing game music (does not overwrite game files). No new sound effects. Not recommended for recording videos and uploading to YouTube due to possible copyright infringement. Recommended for a more tense atmosphere in the game.

Buffed AI

The mod also comes with reworked AI task forces for the following TTE campaigns:
  • Operation Watchtower - added in EA 2.1 - pending more aggressive rework (feedback indicates it's too passive)
    • Recommended difficulty: normal/very hard

    • Fighting the IJN AI blind is asking for disaster
    • USN player will be rewarded for taking a more strategic approach building infrastructure at important locations

    • IJN AI will hunt down your TFs in force
    • Player will be rewarded for managing his/her CAP
    • IJN AI will make better use of submarines both for ambushes and scouting
    • IJN will fight tooth and nail for Guadalcanal

  • Battle of Guadalcanal - updated in EA 2.3
    • Recommended difficulty: normal/normal

Integrated mods

Mods integrated into Expanded Arsenal with the consent of the author (fantastic work they put in, strongly recommend you have a look at their own threads):

Future plans

I will continue work on this mod as new ship classes are added. I will maintain it and keep it compatible with "The Tokyo Express".

Future EA updates are on hold now due to lack of content ideas. Will change as the game mechanics and game AI evolves. I plan to rework the AI more in the future. Also working on other mods for the game with other modders.

Installation instructions

Download the files from https://drive.google.com/file/d/19jFwC9krCoBQKo7jHlcp45SgtGJAkJZL/view?usp=sharing

Expanded Arsenal now requires The Tokyo Express installed beforehand (as of EA v2.2). Removed dedicated support for vanilla game.

Backup your original files beforehand from the folder (if you have this location): Steam Games\steamapps\common\War on the Sea\WarOnTheSea_Data\StreamingAssets\override

For manual installation, simply copy the files to the correct folder (override). DO NOT copy them into the default folder from StreamingAssets. If something goes wrong there, you will have to re-install the game. Use the override folder (dedicated to mods).

Mod also supports JSGME installer.

IMPORTANT: This mod should be the last one installed (after TTE/OM are installed).

You must choose the base mod version you want - with reworked AI or without reworked AI. Then, there are additional installation options you can apply after the base mod.

Additional mod recommendations

How to update the mod on your own

This section is dedicated for the people who want to update the mod on their own in case I (the author) am no longer working on it or am delaying an update. This explains how to keep it compatible with TTE. The following mod is strongly recommended for cross compatibility: rtb Compatbility Tool (https://steamcommunity.com/app/1280780/discussions/3/3156453942263564828/)

To update EA for latest TTE/OM do the following:
- navigate to TTE mod files
- edit the seaUnits.txt in each campaign folder and make all ships available from 1941 or earlier (this step applies for OM compatibility too)
- edit setup.txt in each campaign folder and remove the instances of ships not available for the campaign from the JSON nodes "unavailableShipClasses" and "unavailableShipInstanceNames"
- copy the edited files onto the EA mod files
- install EA over TTE

Compatibility

I expect this mod to work with any mod that does not edit the list of ships in each vanilla class.

I try to leave out ships whose names I have a strong feeling will show up in the game for future campaigns (like missing battleship classes).

I expect you will have issues if you want to remove the extra ships and load a savegame where ships from the list have been fielded. I did not test this with my game. But your savegames will reference instances in classes that no longer exist, so you would have to edit your savegame and remove the instance references from sunk/repair/fielded lists.

Should be savegame compatible if adding new ships.

Should not create issues with new versions (personally confirmed that it's compatible as of 1.08f9h1 and TTE 5.2).

Possible compatibility issues with the following mods:
  • "Marine Nationale + Kriegsmarine" by SeZuldaCZ

Included compatible version with the following mods:

Interesting to see your mod! i am now working on the new TTE version that will include again CVs with the new scouting mechanics, and i decided to expand the options to make the campaign more fun for the player.

If you are interested to add to your mod, this are the CVs added:

"namesInClass":["Shōkaku","Zuikaku","Zuihō","Ryūjō"],"instancesInClass":["shokaku","zuikaku","zuiho","ryujo"]}

"namesInClass":["Yorktown","Enterprise","Hornet","Saratoga","Wasp"],"instancesInClass":["yorktown","enterprise","hornet","saratoga","wasp"]}

Keep up the good work! +1

Thanks, mate! I will add the extra CV names to their class. I assume that we won't be seeing the Zuiho and Ryujo because they were lost at Midway and I don't expect future campaigns to take place before Midway. About the Saratoga and Wasp... I expect they will not be an issue as long as there's nothing hardcoded in future updates to reference these ships.

I will update tomorrow the initial post and the archive. Cheers!

Zuiho was sunk at 1944 and Ryujo was sunk during the Battle of the Eastern Solomons, 24 August 1942. In fact both were at the Guadalcanal campaign. The carriers lost at Midway were Hiryū, Sōryū, Kaga and Akagi. So they are historical accurate. However i failed to create new units stats for the japanese light CVs so they are going to use the Shokaku loadouts.

Mod was updated with the following changelog:

2021-03-18 - Expanded Arsenal v1.1
- renamed Akan to Hibara for Mogami CA to avoid possible conflict with Akan in Tone class
- added Zuiho and Ryujo to the Shokaku class for upcoming compatibility with TTE update. Should not cause conflict in future updates. I might remove them if they do or just rename them in future versions.
- added Saratoga and Wasp to the Yorktown class for the same point as above; same observations apply.

Mod was updated with the following changelog:

2021-03-20 - Expanded Arsenal v1.2
- added new ships to the Portland class with inspiration from Tolkien's universe (Numenorean place names, mostly settlements)
- added new ships to the New Orleans class with inspiration from Tolkien's universe (locations in Rhovanion)
- added new ships to the Akizuki class, original name with roman numerals at the end
- added 3 new ships to the North Carolina class
- added 1 new ship to Kongo class - Showa, named after the era of Hirohito's reign

I have also added ALL US WW2 Battleships and Carriers to the US...and the same goes for the Japan Nation !

sadly, we are limited to the same models...hopefully soon someone more skilled will come out with some new shiny ships^^

I am strongly tempted to do the same, but I wish to port the names over next versions. If future campaigns will bring those ship classes, then I fear any sort of conflict/incompatibility of the mod with the base game.

Let's be honest, who doesn't want to have ships like Ise, Yamashiro, Nagato? Even the old dreadnoughts of the USN are great stuff, though I don't know if we will see them in an upcoming expansion.

Did you unlock the Wichita and the Japanese light cruisers?

Wichita is unlocked by default, but it comes with only one ship in class. I will tinker tomorrow with the IJN light cruisers and unlock them for my ongoing campaign :D and also add more ships to the Agano and Oyodo classes in the next update. Tonight I've been fighting one of your new task forces where they tried to Musashi my Rennell FOB during the night. Bloody hell, two North Carolinas had to pummel the Musashi with so many shells it was unreal. Lost a DD and had to send 1 Cleveland and two New Orleans back for major repairs.

Man, it just feels wrong to call this compilation of ship names a mod. Feels like cheating.

Baron, quick question - will you update TTE for other campaigns when they come out in the future?

I will launch TTE 1.6 tomorrow. I suspect will be my last update for a long time. I am modding the game for the past 6 weeks. Too much time. Need to take a break and play the game :D

"I will tinker tomorrow with the IJN light cruisers" Well i can do that. I want to start a new japanese campaign tomorrow to test my new features.

I mention your mod in TTE page. It is on my recommendation list for the players that want a different/improve experience.

As a side note: Yes i can always come back in a few months and update the mod for the new DLC, etc but i wish the devs to implement some important features first.

Baron, I did make the light cruisers work without issues during my quick campaign test. I started a new one with the IJN to see if it works. And it does work. I called out the Oyodo and Agano ships and even sent them into battle. No issue.

Did the same for Baltimore to test on my ongoing USN game and it does work, savegame compatible.

You have to edit the seaUnits.txt in [...]\StreamingAssets\override\campaign\campaign001 or campaign002 and change the date since when they become available. I've set the year to 1941 and that was it. Worked like a charm.

{"nation":"usa","available":[15,4,1941],"unitID":"baltimore","cost":30}

Looks like a whole lot of new ships will be added to the three mentioned classes in the next release.

Mod was updated with the following changelog:

2021-03-28 - Ex[anded Arsenal v1.4
- expanded Agano-class to 60 ships (we all know how the AI loves to chew through its light cruisers and how easy IJN CLs are to kill)
- expanded Oyodo-class to 25 ships
- expanded Baltimore-class to 67 ships

To enable the Agano, Oyodo and Baltimore classes early in your campaign please continue to read. You have to edit the seaUnits.txt in [...]\StreamingAssets\override\campaign\campaign001 or campaign002 in override/default folders and change the date since when they become available. I've set the year to 1941 and that was it. Worked like a charm.

Example: {"nation":"usa","available":[15,4,1941],"unitID":"baltimore","cost":30}
