Shore bombardment rework idea, and aerial bombardment
I don't know if this has been addressed since the last time I experienced it, but when I would do shore bombardments, no matter how many units capable of shore bombardment, it still takes three separate bombardments even if I send two battleships and a trio of heavy cruisers in the group. But if I game it and split off each heavy cruiser, i can wipe out a level easily.

So what I am thinking is to rework the shore bombardment calculation to take into account how many ships are capable in a formation and say that the amount of damage sustained to reduce one level is equal to 500 times the level of the facility. Each ship can inflict an amount of damage equal to its main gun size in inches times its number of guns, so for example, a South Dakota could inflict 144 damage per bombardment, while a Brooklyn would only manage 90.

For five-inch and lower guns, I propose they could be used in fire support to take out troops as follows using a Farragut whose score is 25 (5x 5in guns): the number of troops they could take out is equal to twice the gun score if there are friendly troops, or half the gun score if there aren't friendly troops.

While I'm suggesting this, a bit more realism could be added to the combat by having bombers able to be used against land targets too. For medium and heavy bombers, the amount of damage would be calculated as follows: take the total weight of the bombs in the flight divided by 500 to get the total amount of damage inflicted. So a flight of 12 B-17s with 8x500lb bombs would do 96 damage against a land base.

Dive bombers would be used to simulate close air support for ground troops by dividing their bombloads by 150, so a flight of 12 SBDs with 1200lb of bombs each would be able to take out 96 enemy troops.

+1. I really like this, it would be a simple rework to the bombardment mechanic, and of course supplies a basework for the aerial bombardment coming eventually

This is how bombardments already work.
Gun calibre x 1/3 ammo remaining of that calibre.
However the fact you can split out a TF and bombard 3x for better results should not happen...

AIr attack has been mentioned on land based airfield, in the pipe line I gather.

What about aircraft bombardments? Destroying airfields and levelling down ports and such ?

Answered in the post above it. Planned for eventually.
