Nav. Position too close to <#> Dauntless ?
When the Dauntless dives bomb the enemy ships, intermixed with "hit by bomb" messages these "Nav. Position" messages are appearing now and then. Isn't this supposed to be a Navigation message? Is this a bug? Version number 1.08h5. Using no mods.

It means you are trying to place a navigation point within the turn radius of the aircraft.
Rather than endlessly loop that position, the message prompts you to place a waypoint farther away so that the aircraft will be able to turn to and reach it.

Yes, thanks, that makes sense. But why is it appearing when the Dauntlesses drop their bombs, even if they are coming straight in toward the target?

It'll appear like:

14:51 6. Direct hit by bomb
14:51 6. Direct hit by bomb
14:51 6. Direct hit by bomb
14:52 Nav. Position too close to 21. Dauntless
14:52 5. Direct hit by bomb
14:52 Nav. Position too close to 21. Dauntless
14:52 5. Direct hit by bomb.

For Planes 22. 23. 24, which was originally in the same formation as 21 but are now attacking that same target independently, this Nav message doesn't appear. As far as I could tell, 21 did drop its bombs.

I don't see this bug. Running the latest version. But I am having some odd glitchy screen hang-ups that are new. Sometimes the game hangs for half a second, repeatedly, in tactical view. In campaign view the selection menu jumps around so it's hard to select the correct unit, and aircraft units only show an arrow on the list, no unit name. Ship names are shown on the selection list.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled twice, to new folders on different drives. No mods.

I'm finding this to be more or less repeatable: Launch a strike with two flights of 12 Dauntlesses, or 24 Dauntlesses. You'll need two carriers for this. Have all 24 dive bomb more or less simultaneously on various targets. The "Nav" message always refers to Dauntless 21. Now this doesn't always happen, but it *may* be that the Nav message does not appear if a number of Dauntlesses are shot down during the dive.

Nope - not for me. Have you done a full re-install? I did one recently as I was having a few other problems. After uninstall but before re-install I deleted the remains of the game folder in SteamApps/Common to make double sure.

Upon further testing, the Nav message always refers to the Dauntless that has the focus. Just so happened to be 21 as that was the last 4-plane lead ordered to attack. Among the 24 Dauntlesses, whichever one you have currently selected will get the Nav message.

And as KFG said, it sounds like you are trying to set a new waypoint, that is within the turn radius of the aircraft. This is the only way I can replicate this type of message.

Understood, but I am not setting any waypoints. It comes up when the aircraft is dropping its bombs and scoring hits on the target and only when the aircraft currently selected. What's also weird is this aircraft will then fly off in a different direction away from the group and with a navigation course set, *as if I had indeed entered in a navigation point*. Perhaps by just selecting it before it dives the game is setting some random waypoint?

I'll try include some screen shots next post.

hey your back when is new campaign going to be added and will you add steam workshop?
also could be a good idea to take modded campaigns and turn them into official campaigns

+100 to adapting and incorporating the modded campaigns. They add a huge amount to the game but are out of sync with the game updates, so often they are unplayable...

Interesting. Are you focused on that aircraft while it is performing the bombing run? That may be the key...

Sounds like you have a dauntless selected, it performs its bombing run and as it pulls up and moves away, the AI placed exit vector waypoint is too close and throws the message.

Will look into it.

Yes, the aircraft that it is focused on gets the message.

I'm not seeing that issue but my TBs are still dropping torps directly onto the target ship sometimes. Latest version, clean install, no mods.
