War on the Sea

how to destroy subs?
this one sub keeps following and pausing campaign map, in game sonar says sub detected but theres nothing to target, it just keeps triggering empty battles over and over (or magically gets more torpedoes and waltzes right past all the sonar destroyers and sinks some heavy ships )effectively breaking the game.

What to do?

I face the same problem. The sub just keeps bring up encounters even without torpedoes.

The player "ryu1940" made excellent videos explaining everything you need to know.
I just fought 25 battles against a magic invisible enemy with unlimited ammo that mostly only pauses the campaign to harrass the player.

How do we edit subs out?

Those are really good sources of explaining how sonar works, and how its supposed to work in the game.

don't move too fast for sonar to be able to detect also the best sonar is passive but you really to be quiet not moving around too much

I'm starting to suspect that something might be amiss. Recently, enemy (USN) subs will initiate an encounter with me, but there isn't a sub. I'll hit the retreat button and it'll start counting down from 180, and then after about 7-8 seconds, it immediately jumps to zero.

I've seen this with aircraft encounters when the enemy plane in question is way too far away to initiate combat/hasn't detected me in the time it takes for the retreat timer to get to 0, so I believe it skips that on purpose. As for your sub encounters, there's probably a sub in there somewhere, it's just so far away it can't do anything to you.

It's possible that as the sub gets closer, more encounters occur with this same outcome, eventually culminating in a torpedo strike. If it is done this way, it could be a bug considering how tedious that could get.

Thanks for sharing that in game advice, Iafter the first 30 engangements (Finally got time compression working) had an entire task for of destroyerrs with active sonar on and it took 4 engagements just for it to show up once.


If that was true in real life why would the subs have been hunted to extinction with it (Where it had previously been a one sided battle in facor of subs) and active sonar be standard on every naval vessel ever since?

Things are just easier to locate when you can loudly ping it and polyangulate its location to an exact position.

Im surprised to see a creator that cares. Im stunned really most just shove a product out the window for money and forget about it, thanks for checking into it.

Some additional things Ive found, finally sank the boat, so maybe it wasnt one with unlimited ammo, but a bunch of trolls in a group interrupting my game.

The game would be much more enjoyable for me(And I am sure many others) with out them. (Maybe add an option to spawn subs and aircraft for players that just want to do naval surface battles, or people that dont?)

It looks like it can also happen with aircraft.

There is an impressively detailed level of mechanics incorporated into the game regarding sound , while totally overlooking how game breaking have to pause your campaign movement every 3 seconds of map time is when it takes a whole minute to go from one place to another.

Since you're actually caring enough to respond and show an interest in the quality of your game, I am willing to work with you, or provide and helpful information possible.

Just got an ~896 kb update since I posted this, was that you patching something?

go underwater, when you can hear your ship pinging, thats when the sonar actually works. I wouldnt go much faster than about 10knts at max when doing ASW ops. I have found that around 8knts is best. I usually send my ships out in all directions at slow speed when I think there is a sub around.

I didn't have any sub encounters yesterday, but also didn't get to play much. If it doesn't seem to be working, I'll post, but otherwise, I'm sure it's fixed.

It didnt happen unless the 3rd patrol for me
