Torpedo Firing Solution
Hi all,

New enough to the game. What are the best ways to improve a torpedo firing solution from a submarine?

Use the periscope. Note that having an accurate solution matters less for torpedoes than simply getting close enough that the targets don't have a lot of time to dodge.

Get closer, slow down, turn on radar, and raise your periscope. If you're really close active sonar might help. Note that more broady, you'll have problems with firing solution quality in rough seas, against slower moving ships, and in some cases at night.

Also I'm going to link a video that came up in the other torpedo thread because the "♥♥♥♥ O'Kane" method of firing manually can work wonders. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orb3d2Fp3Og

Thanks a lot makes sense. Just sunk two ships so must be doing something right :) Slowed down but didnt turn on sonar yet. Worried about being detected?

I am assuming that you read the manual and have done the tutorial. Submarine warfare is pretty easy. This is what I have found most effective; when you enter an encounter as a submariner; from the menu make sure that the attack angle is less than 9 degrees and make sure that you achieve attack by selecting a 6 torpedo spread at 1 degree. I easily achieve a 90% success rate when I only concentrate on hitting BB, CV, CVL, CA & MS. I don't bother with DD or CL.

Active Sonar??? Your crazy.... You don't go active thats announcing your presence to the world and telling every ship EXACTLY where you are....
