Torpedoes passing underneath the destroyers
Hello,
All my submarine torpedoes pass under the enemy destroyers. I am very good at hitting the other ships (CL-CA-BB...) with my submarine torpedoes. But it is impossible for me to hit the destroyers... All torpedoes go underneath.... Does anyone have the same problem?

I’ve had torpedoes fired from a sub pass under destroyers more than once, but as I recall the sea state was a bit rough.

I've encountered the same with the sea state, 5 and 6 sea state's i don't bother with the Destroyers.

Yeah, don’t bother with DDs if sea state is 5+, unless you are near a resupply base to replace all those wasted torps

DDs have a shallow draught (usually <3m) so it was quite common that torpedos would pass under them, especially if the sea was rough. On the bright side, this also means that they can hit convoy ships that are hiding behind a destroyer.

I stick to high value targets especially sinceI’m playing with a self imposed limit on submarines.

DDs are so hard to hit with torpedoes... Agreed with Mizu, stick to the high value targets. Also, if you are shooting the mark 15s with the USN who cares they are just going to dud anyways. Ironically, the one time I accidentally torpedoed my own ship the mark 15s were very effective. So.... historically accurate.

Thank you very much guys, now it is more clear :-)

The game needs settings for shallow or deeper running torpedoes like real torpedoes. If game torpedoes are continually running under destroyers, they are set for deeper draft ships by default.

Last night one of my Fletchers was hit by a Type 93 fired by a destroyer.

It's a game feature.

What is a game feature? Torpedo depth control? You are thinking of another game.

The torpedoes going under.

I have no idea what you are talking about.

Never mind.

Torpedoes passing underneath DDs in higher sea states is intended by the developers

its partly due to a missing setup with torps. no option to set running depth. Subs and surface ships set a running depth for torps so they didnt go under ships.
For shallow hulled ships they set the depth to about 2 foot. for bigger ships they set them for about 10 foot so they didnt get detected so easy as far less wake on the surface. sea state also effected the running depth they set them too.

The running depth was set to as deep as possible so when they hit a lot more water would rush into the hole at a greater pressure. usualy it was about 2 to 3 feet below the waterline on small ships deeper on the bigger ships.
But the game doesnt have that in it yet. Maybe they will ad it later if its not too complicated for players to setup lol.
