I need help to get a valid CD key for FUEL
Hello everyone!

I got FUEL on Steam through a giveaway. The game isn't on Steam anymore as everyone knows. When I tried to run the game it asked for a CD key to complete the registration and start playing. Steam provided me with that CD key and I copied/pasted it in the proper place during the registration process but I got a message telling me that the CD key is invalid!

I searched over the Internet and found the same problem with almost everyone tried to run the game after removing it from Steam, and the answer to solve this problem is to contact Codemasters to get a new valid CD key.

I did contact them directly, and I got an answer to my email after 2 hours only! It was very fast, thanks! But they asked me to provide a proof of purchase which I clearly don't have due to the fact that I got the Steam key for this game through a giveaway!

I provided many screenshots and the Steam key which I have activated, and also my Steam profile link which hold my real name (just as my email address) but the answer was:

"Unfortunately we can only assist you with proof of purchase. Sorry."!!!

Does this mean that just because I didn't pay for the game that I don't deserve to play it? It is not fair, because there are lots of ways to prove that I really have the game in my Steam account/library! I feel that the proof of purchase is just - kind of - a proof of paying not a proof of having the game!

Please I need some help to get a valid CD key for the game, because I don't like using any kind of "Cracks" to run it.

Anyone who had the same problem and got it solved please tell my how.

Thanks.

Could've been a bogus giveaway.

How? Are there keygens for Steam codes?

If there aren't, this is a game Codemasters sold (to someone) but are now refusing to deliver. The Steam key should still activate the game on GFWL, though.

Mind you, the first game that I had "stolen" was Colin McRae rally, a Codemasters game that wouldn't run on my PC because the copy protection wouldn't let it, me having a CD changer in that machine. I do avoid buying Codematsers games these days unless they're heavily discounted.

Absolutely not, I have the game, as you can see, in my Steam Library since April, and there are many people who have this same problem. You can see the discussion which is happening here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/12800/discussions/0/392183857631059915/

Absolutely not huh? So you're saying that the code could not have been registered in GFWL but not activated on Steam? You think too highly of the ♥♥♥♥ that GFWL was... also SecuROM. It was garbage, only making it harder for legitimate users to play their games. These CD key and activation issues with FUEL are not/were not an uncommon thing.

If Codemasters won't help you, you're probably SOL until you find another one somewhere. However, the places that I know of where you used to be able to purchase them have run dry (Green Man Gaming for example). (and ♥♥♥♥ G*2*A)

The code/key that I got from the giveaway was for Steam and I was able to activate it and have the game in my library. I didn't play the game and didn't even try to run it until the last week when I realized that I need anther key for SecuROM.

So what I meant with "absolutely not" is only that the giveaway wasn't bogus, at least I got the key activated, but the problem, as you obviously know, is because Codemasters didn't provide me with a valid key for SecuROM.

Thanks for the advice of buying a new Steam key, I found the game on kin*g*uin, but I will not be able to activate it on my Steam account since I already have it, so what is the point? Do you mean that I can send Codemasters the proof of purchase of the new key to get a valid SecuROM key which can be used with my current activated game?

* Sorry for my English.
If you bought it? Probably.

My point was somebody might have activated your faulty key on GFWL already, but hadn't used it through Steam.

i played dirt 2 and this (both on my account) but i moded gfwl out. steam removed them from the store because the drm stopped letting players play making it a defective porduct.

did you ask the one who gave it to you for help? let him know what happened and i think the key came from a gala bundle it was in a long time ago.

Sorry for the necro... But

It's not, the Steam key and the GFWL keys are different. Steam won't disclose the GFWL key until the game is activated on Steam, so there is no way for the giveaway creator to know the GFWL key unless they redeem the game on Steam.

But you sure they couldn't have gotten that GFWL key without any relation to Steam?

the code is pulled from a pool of unused codes when you activate the game on steam. the only way it could be use is if the publisher recycled keys. don't forget the game was pulled because the drm is/was fulty.

Steam purchase history is valid Proof of Purchase, as defined in Steam TOS. Hit them with that. 8 Years later.
