Graphics Update
is it possible? It also would attract more players

What kind of graphics update exactly? New and improved animations/models for weapons have been added pretty regularly in the last 2 years or so, such that nearly all Allied weapons and all AT launchers have been replaced. The new maps being added in the last few years have also been pushing the boundaries of UE2.5 as far as level of detail. But beyond that, we do not have any source code access and changing any core aspects of the game's rendering engine would not be possible.
No thanks, the current graphics give it sovl and charm. The modern graphics are terrible and soulless. RO2 has terrible graphics yet being a newer game.

Yes as it is, the detail is enough to have fun with one another and not get bogged down in super realistic country side. You want PS or HLL for that - nearly impossible to work out where you got whacked from. They are trying to be full on realistic SIMS of WW2.

Not so great for me.

I look at all these 'action' games the kids play now where the graphics have gone the way of cartoon like animations and "jet set willy" game style and think what a waste of graphics power.

I miss my gore.

I think games peaked for me with things like:
Man Hunt (2003)
Soldier of Fortune (2000)
FEAR (2005 and on)
half life (1998)
DOOM3 (2004)
Max Payne 2001 and on

- 18/R-rated games that made you feel sick / laugh out loud and/or a little fear.

After that the graphics industry went chasing the kiddie pocket money with fluffy bunnies shooting at each other wearing graffiti clothing and graffiti covered guns - and the dollars rolled in.

Things like Sniper Elite and Wolfenstein (2009 on until the girls arrived) manage to amuse me for a bit, but then even they just fizzled.

I want the games industry to make games for adults again, but then I guess my generation is not where the money is at anymore.

Sorry, I'm a ranting old man at 53.

Started gaming at 12 years old in 1982 on a BBC Model B.

Exactly, modern games actually have less graphical fidelity and make up for it with things like "post processing" which as we know from RO2 make things look horrible and bland.

Though I am much younger than you I share the same resentment on gaming
modern graphics arent soulless, just the games are poorly made
♥♥♥♥ graphics bring back motorcycles!!!!

I partially agree, the graphics of some modern games sucks, like the graphics of HLL and squad 44 that are too colorful, and for some reason no matter how good they look, I don't feel like I'm in 1944 or in the middle of WW2.
But what do you say about the graphics of modern games like escape from tarkov, dayz, Arma reforger (and Arma 2 even), or the entire stalker saga? Nobody can say that they are ugly, unrealistic or for kids. They just need someone to make a mod like RO for those games. Well, it may also be difficult in those games to work out where you got whacked from, but that's real life.
Also for the games you mention (manhunt1, half life 1,...), do you have a potato pc or something? because when I had a potato pc I also thought the same thing, and the games from 2007 onwards, like ro2, I played them with the graphics at minimum, and they looked like crap and I thought the graphics were like that, but then when I played those games with the graphics at maximum, I realized that they are not as bad as I thought.
However, it is true that all garbage about weapons with graffiti or overly invasive HUD with many elements on the screen sucks.

RO2 unironically looks better with all settings set to low

Not really ever had a potato PC, most of my life I have had quite beefy development PCs as I write software for a living. So I mostly run with everything turned to max.

I own a copy of Stalker software, I do recall enjoying that. Not done the Arma stuff.

Hey, I'm just saying, experienced coders are what the DH dev team needs more than anything. ;)

Where on Discord can I read about your coding issues?

I don't think we have anything posted publicly. If you get a chance and you're interested, send colin.basnett a message on Discord. He's our lead dev/lead programmer and would better know what needs doing.
Add anime babes and neko catgirls. We've been playing this crusty game for almost 20 years now, it's time.
