-1-3, 2-2, 3-1, where 1 is small 2 is medium, and 3 is big...
-if i want more gears, then i reverse placeout in second line of gears, and repeat process, so shifters have this setup:
-shifter-> 1-3->2-2->3-1
-shifter->1-3->2-2->3-1 (reversed placement in frame due to space effiiency)
I've build frankencar which theoretically could speed up to 1334km/h, with acc at 113m/ss,
bu its lacking in grip (due on its 651 grip), torque, (its below 3500 Nm at 60km/h, and below 1000 Nm a 140km/h xD)
That's exactly the issue. Putting the same gears on both shifters eliminates half the purpose.
You have the singular extremes of 1:25 and 25:1, but everything else is wasted.
You have 2 different positions that both give 1:5, and likewise, 2 positions that give 5:1.
3:3-3:3 gives a 1:1 transmission, which is fine in its own right... except 1:5-5:1 and 5:1-1:5 also give the same output.
(FYI: I'm referring to gears as 1, 3, 5, in case that's confusing. That's based on the diameter in nodes, or the circumference with the minimum of 8 teeth being considered 1 unit.
This way makes things easier for the purposes of calculating speed/torque.)
If the auto-gearing system makes full use of both shifters, they need to all have different ratios. The question is, does it make use of these gears to the fullest?
Does the game recognise that, to shift up to the next gear, one of the shifters might have to shift down?
