Unlocking Gear shift 3
I'm just struggling to come up with a design to meet the requirements to unlock gear shift 3 in the tech tree. I have very little mechanical knowledge and I can't think of a way to make a 4 speed transmission with only the gear shift 2 parts. Has anyone gotten past this part of the tech tree?

There is one prototype in the workshop. But I still can't figure out how it works :D

There's some handy dandy pics you can find of wooden transmissions that use cogs pretty much like the ones in-game. It's how I managed to make a 4 speed after some trial and error. Wasn't pretty, but did it's job and went fast!

A t1 shifter from the engine with 2 gears, meshing onto a transfer axle (with the 2 corresponding gears). On the other end of the transfer axle, use another t1 shifter to add another 2 gears, which will then feed power to the drivetrain.
Just make sure not to add inverted or repeating ratios between the two gearsets.
Eg. 1:5 followed by 5:1 takes you back to 1:1, and that's a waste.
1:1 to 1:5 vs 1:5 to 1:1 both end up at 1:5, so that's also a waste.
I use a 3 node offset (2 node gap) on one shifter, but change the offset by (+/-) 1 node for the other. It means I can use the regular 1:5 and 1:1 (3:3) ratios on one, and the 'irregular' 3:5 or 1:3 ratios on the second shifter.
Pro tip: At a 2 node offset, (using a 1:3 ratio,) you can also use corner gears straight, for a 1:1 (2:2) gearing.

with wo t1 shifers U can build long drivetrain on one axis, but better way is to have separae axis wih two shifters and two corresponding gears

but i've built a car with three t1 shifters, but only four gears on it, i can publish it xD

I kinda cheesed it by building two separate shifts for each axle instead of trying to cram it into one, it was the exact same build just mirrored on the front.

I'm always doing that wen I need more speed and acc
i've ranked up one vehicle to 1334 km/h by adding to i 12 shifs (3 in 4 shifters) xD
