if you look at something from moonstone, the artstyle is somewhat simular as well, same with purplesoft, the drawing do improve from old titles but there isent a massive change between 2-3 games.
the animated expressions are part of the emote system right? i think i remember that being a new tech a few vn companies adopted a couple years ago to pretty great effect. it really sucks when vns don't have that anymore. though there are some really old ones that hold up by doing something similar with constant expression changes in the dialogue box with a smaller picture-in-picture icon.
if that is not to your taste you don't have to get it, but don't come to hate on people that enjoy it.
