you should not worry about people who see really good assets in a game and think "gosh i hope the dev team allocated resources to draw these instead of work on the game" because they are stupid and miss the entire point of talented artists making assets for game devs
never said anything remotely negative
Synty assets are widly used because they are some of the best assets available. If you don't have a dedicated 3D art team, which can cost literally millions of dollars for multiple years of work, Synty is kind of the best option for 3D assets. Also the Synty team is awesome- I've met them several times and they're great people who do great work.
This :)
The Dev team for this game are all engineers, and none of them have any art-like experience.
But if the game has a good launch & they can afford it, they are gonna hire a team for some changes! :)
I personally dont care if they bought assets, if they work well with em and still manage to create something unique. I tried myself some game programming with UE. And ever since this, i have massive respect for small teams making a game, and absolutely dont care about assets, as using none would probably mean to double the developement time.
I mean, i even worked with the help of ChatGPT. You wouldnt believe it, but it codes for you if u ask the right questions. If something aint working as intended, it even can find the mistake in your codes. But even with this help, coding is hell, and i gave up after 3 days. I just wanted to see it, to understand it. And ya, ever since i done so, i dont judge harsh about devs anymore, especially not because of assets.
Some other indie games, most MMOs, using Synty asset packs:
Realm of Simplicity
Sojo
Grimrain
Thyranya
