On topic: That's really neat that you can now create your own bingos but I'm wondering if it was an advanced, if not post-game feature because that was the whole point of egg hunting--searching for genes in specific spots to fortify your builds.
Well, perhaps certain genes are more rare now; plus, since you can stack them you'd have to find a particular gene multiple times to get it to it's highest level. I'm happy for the change either way, since the grind for particular slots could be brutal.
<Rant>
I think that the way "rare" monsters in the first game were showcased was a bit ridiculous too. You were basically tripping over them if you gave any semblance of a concerted effort. To the point where monsters like Gravios could be hatched before encountering your first Basarios. Or hatching a Diablos before you could even use it. The whole pace of the first game was nonsensical.
And even if you did hatch them, they start at level 1 while your level 35 Rathian can just carry everything anyway.
Yeah, I definitely had a moment where I couldn't use a Pink Rathian that I came upon by chance for a bit. But I did find that the experience scaling was super generous to low-level monsties. I could catch them up to within 10 levels or so I my old ones without too much extra effort.
