Once he got to this point, I even replaced my gene-modded Anjanath for him.
I assume he still will get stronger before the story completes.
Sure, until you get Teostra for your main fire monstie.
It was kinda sad to put Ratha aside and for a good while, my main flier was a Sand Barioth, then along came Velkhana.
Which makes me wonder why our main Monstie isn't even the strongest version of its species? Especially because he is designed to get stronger as the game progresses so it's not like it would be too easy if he was an Azure Rathalos.
Unless "Razewing" is its own technical variant, then it would make sense.
I just don't much see the point of being the "main" monstie if he gets outscaled at (or even before) the end of the game.
But at the same time, I'm sure they wanted to encourage variety. They didn't want Ratha to be a staple inclusion in every party at the end of the game, that's why we can swap him out after all. But if what you say is true then I think they went too far and just made him obsolete instead of just being a different and viable option.
There's a spoiler in the story and I think this is the reason why he isn't always fighting at full power aside from the story/cutscene parts. It also makes sense that the devs don't want people having an OP monstie that could 1 hit everything
Flying monsters though.... if anything they should be able to do most of the field movements similar or in ways, better then 'ivy climbing', 'swim'/'lava dive/jump' (they can hover!), certain aspects of ground dive because the other side is usually somewhere with no traverse-able path but can be accessed from the sky, unless its actually an underground area.
Fun game though.
The only good thing he has right now is solar cry,but if they won't change it,silver rathalos will have it as well
While I love Rathalos as a monster and always have Ratha in my party he really shouldn't have been the main monster once again for the sequel. Every Stories game should have at least two original monsters. The main story flagship monster and the final boss. If it absolutely has to to be Rathalos again they should make sure to really flesh him out and make him special. I was disappointed that they dropped the Razewing thing and just forgot about it. Would've been cool if Ratha had a special Razewing Devil Trigger type mechanic. Wasted potential imo.
